how many days in total? how many days would you spend at each with the split? can't vote until I know :)

I voted to do both, but I am making an assumption that your trip is long enough to make it feasible... :) I love both these resorts so much, and am a little sad we aren't doing the Poly again next time! You can easily see the animals from ALL savannas if you go down the hall and look out the windows/use the porches. Even with the view last time we enjoyed going to the stairways at the ends of the halls and choosing the view so to speak since the animals aren't always right outside your own balcony.

Nine nights total. If we split, it would be four nights at the Polynesian first, and five nights at the AKL.

I voted AKL only. But if you are going for a long time then i'd be more likely to split.
We will be there nine nights/ten days.

I voted for the split. Our favorite resort is the Poly, but we also love AKL. We've never stayed standard view but have stayed savanna (and pool) view and while it was nice watching the animals from the balcony, having a savanna view isn't a necessity for us. As the pp said, there are several animal viewing areas around the resort that I wouldn't hesitate to book a cheaper view. Good luck.

DVC member here so maybe my view is skewed since we have done all DVC stays (except POR for a week and CR for 3 nights). I say go AKL savannah view. 1- no split (and I like splits myself but hate the day of split where you're homeless a few hours). 2- savannah view ROCKS! 3- AKL (AKV) is my very fave resort (just for resort...BCV beats it out due to location but I LOVE me some AKV). 4- heard not so good things about the new DVC Poly so I am not a fan (maybe the non-DVC part is fine).

I love the savanna view rooms at AKL and Kidani. But, I've also had a standard view room there...over the entrance at Kidani. I didn't feel awful...there are plenty of places to sit and watch the animals around the resort.
I'm not sure I would want to be in just one resort for that long a period. I say split it up.

I agree with the others, that's a long time to stay at one resort. It would be amazing to stay at AKL with a savanna view, but there are other places to watch the animals at AKL and if you have the opportunity to stay at two deluxe resorts at WDW in one trip, I would take it!

I went with just AKL because I think if I did that split the Poly would spoil me with transportation (with both the monorail and a walkway to the TTC right there!) and I'd get too frustrated at waiting for the AKL bus.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is our favorite resort by far. We stayed there(pool view) during Thanksgiving in 2014. It has been about ten years since we have stayed at the Polynesian resort... We tried WL and BC last year, but find ourselves coming back to AKL. I would love to try the Polynesian again since the construction is completed, and I'm definitely leaning towards the split stay.

First not big fan of split stays. But standard view at AKL even worse when you could have savanna. So I voted AKL only.

DW and I have stayed at AKL, and if/when we stay there again, I would definitely want to have a savanna view again. When we were in our rooms we spent most of the time enjoying the view of the animals (when not sleeping :) ).

Thanks for the help! I see that the poll is 50/50! For the ones who chose the split, would you do three nights at the Polynesian, or four? I'm looking at last year's crowd calendar, and it looks like a three nights stay at the Polynesian will work out better. Since we are going to be switching to AKL, I'll be going to AK the evening of the split. Is a 3 night/6 night split worth the effort? I intended on staying another night at the Polynesian, but I really want to try to keep my park days with the crowd calendar as well.

I always say, either way you choose, you're gonna love it. There's not a bad hotel in Disney! Especially when you're talking about 2 Deluxe Resorts!
