Help me decide on a stateroom?

We are looking at the Fantasy for an October cruise and I cannot decide on a stateroom.

We are looking at:

2 - Deluxe Family Oceanview staterooms

1 - Deluxe Family Oceanview with a verandah

The price difference between the 2 is $850.00 less for the 1 room vs 2.

The pros to the OV rooms from what I see is this:
more space as we will have 2 rooms
2 bathrooms

The Pros to the verandah room is:
a verandah
cheaper
BUT will we be really cramped or will we be so busy on the ship that it wont matter? Is there enough privacy that the parents can stay up and watch tv while the kids go to bed?

Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated!

We love having a verandah. We have cruised with our 2 kids in a verandah room and yes it is a little cramped but we utilized the verandah a lot. I would sit out there and do my make up while others were inside getting ready and when the kids were sleeping I could sneak out there and sit and enjoy alone until they got up.

The tv is in the bunk bed area so if you have the curtain drawn then you can't see the tv.

We just completed our 4th cruise, the first 3 were all in connecting insides, (Cat 11). The last was in a deluxe family verandah, (Cat 4A). After the cruise was over we chatted about the pros and cons and all decided we will definitely go back to 2 connecting insides for our next cruises. It's really nice having 2 connecting rooms. Just my $.02

I think it all depends on how much you would use the verandah. I get up early and love being able to wake up, sit outside with my book in my pjs and watch us pull into port each morning. One by one, the kids would wake up and join me. We've never cruised without one. I also loved it when DS was napping age - I would put him down and sit outside.

I have only sailed once without a verandah and have always had the mindset that I *needed* one. You didn't say how old your children were. I just cruised three weeks ago with a 12yo & a 10yo and we had a verandah. I barely used it. They were in Edge from the time they woke up and usually stayed until closing (1am!!!). I found myself enjoying the adult areas of ship more because of that. I booked an ocean view room for our next cruise on the Fantasy. It will only be myself and my two children so I booked one of the 08A mini suites. We are planning an extended family trip to Alaska. Since my DH will be joining us we are opting to book either two connecting inside or two connecting ocean view rooms. I can't envision having to share one toilet with an adult male and a teenage boy who seem to maybe nap while they are in there????

Is the ocean view a cat 8A I ask because some of those are set up like Mini suites and have lots of room and two windows with seating.

I'd save the $850 and go with the verandah, especially if your kids are younger.

I agree with this one quite stronger. We've always had a veranda (and I will miss it sorely on our upcoming Iceland/Norway cruise) and it is SO nice to have if you have young children, under 6 or so. Plus, there really is nothing better, in my opinion, than first breakfast (room service) with coffee on the veranda in the morning. That is my happy place.

You'll have 2 split bathrooms. Broken out between 2 showers, 2 toilets. You don't mention how many people you are traveling with or ages. You can make it so you can view the TV on the one side of the dividing curtain. But rememebr this is a curtain. You can look into some of the rooms at the front of the ship that have 2 tvs and a wall. I don't remember the staterooms exactly, but they are ocean view with the big portholes. Might answer your space issue and your price issue.
