I have never been to MNSSHP and the total cost for my family of 4 will be a little over $200.00. Is it worth it? We have been to Disney 3 other times but have never been during the party. I just wanted some honest opinions. Is it worth the additional money? I am not sure what all is involved. I know they have fireworks, parade and hand out candy. Any help would be appreciated!!! :confused3

if halloween is on your radar as a major holiday..........i mean ya just luv it.........then by all mean go........we planned our whole trip around it.

I have never been, only to MVMCP, however everyone's opinion is subjective. It's my opinion, if you have the money you should try it at least once. I have heard it said time and time again that the Halloween party is better then the Christmas party.

We went last year for the first time and loved it! My husband who usually grumbles about Disney trips but always gives in, already wants me to plan a trip to go again this year. We went twice last year! We live 4 hours away so it is possible! The parade is great, in fact we are always singing the song from the parade. The kids loved dressing up and going around to the trick or treat spots. Plus we saw alot of characters!

Thank you. I have some friends who have been to MVMCP and they did not think it was worth the extra money. I had not heard the Halloween Party is better. I appreciate your help!!!

While it is only my DH and myself that we had to purchase tickets for, I definitely think it was worth it unless you are not into Halloween in the least. :) Halloween is not our favorite holiday, but we enjoyed MNSSHP and would definitely go back again!

Go!!! There is a special parade, special fireworks, a villians mix and mingle, lots of character photo ops, trick or treating, and most of the rides are walk-ons. I have been going for the last 2 years and this year, I'm thinking about going to it twice while I am down there on vacation!

Yes. The MNSSHP was an absolute blast! I wish we went two nights instead of just one. Check out the you tube videos.

The parade is completely different from the regular parades. First, the headless horseman rides the parade route about 10-15 minutes before start. All of the parade units are different. There are dancing ghosts and the grave diggers are not to be missed with their shovel dance routine. At the end, Goofy delivers "candy, candy, candy". The music is superb... I can hear it now... (Boo to You! And You and You and You.... Happy Halloween.....).

The fireworks and the music along with it was far superior than wishes fireworks. And I recommend getting very up close to the castle, right in front if you can. Following the fireworks was the "Villians Dance Mix and Mingle" show and all the villians came down to meet us and lines quickly formed for photos (no autographs) and then they mingled with the crowd.

Character greeting spots were wonderful, but we missed a lot of them because we watched the parade twice. You will see a lot of characters not usually in the parks.

The dance parties were fun, but maybe more for older children (and adults). Stitch's dance party was great. Teens will like the music.

And candy.... if you want to keep your dentist in business... the CMs dumped loads and loads of candy in our bags. I still have some awful tasting Stitch's super sour candy from last Oct....

Most everyone wears some kind of costume and that just adds to all the fun.

We are going to Disney for Christmas in 2010 but come Halloween, I'll really be missing the party this year. If I was rich, I'd make a special trip just for Halloween. We went to the party on a weekday night. I heard that Halloween night was very crowded at the party.

Also, in 2009, your party ticket got you into MK as early as 4pm, so if you have magic your way tickets, you could use the MYW to go to a different park earlier in the day without buying park hoppers.

I go to mvmcp each year I go to Disney in Nov/Dec and I LIKED it.
I went to MNSSHP last year twice in 1 week because I LOVED it.

My family is a HUGE Christmas family but I found the Halloween party was better. I don't know if it was because we were not freezing our butts off or it was just a better party. We are from Jersey and don't freeze fast. I had such a blast last year that I'm planning another Sept/OCt trip and going twice during my trip

Wow, this thread is convincing me to go this year to the HP.

I've been to the Christmas party and enjoyed it, but the cost of the hard ticket parties had me on the fence about MNSSHP.

After reading the accounts here, I think I need to tell DW I am ready to go!!

I find that is it worth it even if you do it just once.
I fell in love with the Halloween party.
We had a blast if interested I have a trip report with the Halloween party in it. I'm still working on it but it will show you how much we got done in just 1 night then we back for another night.

O.K. Great we are going to do it. I have read that you can get in around 4:00 the day of the party. If we do this do we need to come to the front of the park at 7:00 for the official start of the party. Do they have a big start? Do they hand out something telling you when the fireworks and everything else is done? I am sorry to ask such dumb questions but I don't want to miss anything. :cutie:

last year on the day we didn't spend in the park we got in at 4 using our party tickets. There was a CM right next to the turnsile with the wrist bands.
just as you walked under the train station the CM's were there with you bags.

the day we did spend in the park we had to have our party tickets handy and go to the rose garden It's the pathway going to Tomorrowland (I think-I have huge headache so I don't want to think too much lOL)

anyway 1 CM scanned your party tickets, another gave you your wrist bands and another gave you your bag.

We love Halloween and are making a special two night trip over fall break to attend the MNSSHP. My DD will be five this year and it will be her third party. I love that we have gotten to stay on some rides four-five times in a row. The candy is so-so but the atmosphere is wonderful if you like Halloween. Some people go all out for the costumes and you get to see many different characters. There is also free face painting for kids and adults. The parade is awsome and I have heard the fireworks are but my DD is afraid of them so we go sit at Cosmic Rays and eat a Mickey bar. We even got to dance with Chip and Dale at the dance party by Dumbo. We usually stay until Midnight and I have to drag my DD out!

Definitely go! We have been twice and have had so much fun. You can get into the park beginning at 4pm. My favorite things to do are the dance party and the parade. The kids especially have a blast.

Do it!

If you or your kids are pin collectors, they have special party pins that you can only buy in the MK during the parties. They're pretty expensive ($11), but its the ONLY keepsake we're really into.

We plan our trips around the MNSSHP!!! (And we loved the Pirate and Princess Parties, which are great for a family with 3 small boys...sad to see they are gone)

My son wore a costume and did the Pirate League to add to his costume. He was a dead Pirate

Mom & I just bought Happy Halloween Shirts from Walmart and did Pirate League. The shirts had a skeleton walking a skeleton dog and glowed in the dark.
Some guys asked us if he could take his photo with us while we were in Haunted Mansion. We got comments all night on how great we looked.

Here we are
Zach in his Dead Pirate costume before Pirate League makeover
We decorated our windows LOL

Wear a costume even more fun !

PICT0737.jpg

You look so adorable. You had to be sweating to death in that thing LOL
It was in the 90's last year and I only had a black shirt and makeup on and I was about to die.

I have the Evil Queen costume as soon as I lose much much weight I want to get back into that and then go to the MNSSHP. I wore it in 2005 eek lol
I bought a basket and put candles shaped as apples in it with green cotton-filler to make it look like it was poisoned.
How cool would it be to take a photo with Snow White and the Dwarfs dressed as the Evil Queen LOL
