Help me decide : BCV or BWV? What do you like the least?

After staying at HH, my family is all on board to buy into DVC. We like the Epcot resorts, and had initially preferred BCV over BWV for mostly little things (we like the decor at BCV a bit better, Storm-Along-Bay etc). We haven't stayed at either one.

I've read a lot on these boards about what people like about these two resorts, but what have owners or renters disliked about BCV and BWV? Even if there are just little things, please post anyway.

Thanks in advance.
Rene

Well, I love both BCV and BWV, but here are some not-so-great things about each.

BWV
  • Long hallways
  • No CS inside the resort (must venture outside)
BCV
  • No 3-BR GV
  • No Community Hall
That's all I can think of. Again, I love both resorts!

The "big" closet off the jacquzzi part of the bathroom is smaller at BCV than at BWV. I like the larger one because I can get all the luggage into it and still have room to open and keep open the ironing board.

BCV also closed off the toilet from the shower and sink and I prefer one large bathroom.

At the BWV I wish the quiet pool wasn't on top of community hall, but it really isn't a bad feature, I'd just prefer a view of the water from the pool instead of the building in the way. As you can see we own at BW, we love it so much when we added on - 2x - we added on there, even though AKV was opened.

Good luck with your decision.

The BCV doesn't have much of a view and I thought the walk to our room compared to the long hall ways for the BW. The Villa's were added after the hotel whereas the BW was built to include the villas so the views are fantastic, even in the Standard view rooms, although nothing compares to the bw view. (but the BW view rooms can be noisy)

Either way they are both great resorts. The one thing I have found is the BW is very active at night and the BC is very active during the day. The one nice thing about owning at the BCV is that you can pool hop to our pool if you so choose but we can't hop over to your . It may also be easier to make a reservation at the BW at 7 months due to the fact that the BW has more rooms.

I haven't experience the long hallways at BWV (our room was the first one on the left after getting off the elevators, lol), but the lack of food options inside the resort is a minus. Generally, I prefer the food options at BC. We own at BWV and the big plus for us there is the standard one bedrooms for less points.

I agree also that the views at BCV aren't anything spectacular (though the standard views at BWV are nothing to write home about either).

Honestly, though, we prefer staying at BC over BW mostly for SAB. The big minus for BWV (as compared to BCV) is that the pool just can't compare.

The CS food prob at BWV is a big deal for us. With 3 kids under 12 it can be a pain to go out to the BW for quick food items. It is very convenient to go to Epcot but if we did not have annual passes that option would not be as appealing as we might not have a day on our ticket that we want to use for Epcot.

BCV is our least favorite but the kids sure do love that pool!

You really cant go wrong with either place and we would never be disappointed to stay at either.

Do yourself a favor and stay at both before you buy. How many people have bought without trying the place out then said to themselves, "those darn DISers, they don't know what they're talking about". :)

I think that the most important thing is what do YOU like the most? People will give you all sorts of opinions, but in the end, it's your purchase and you need to be happy with it.

Let me start by saying that both are lovely resorts.

Personally, I prefer the BCVs. I like the location better (closer walk to Epcot). I love SAB!!! We stayed there on our honeymoon, so it is also a sentimental favorite.

Views...better overall at the BW, but we have stayed at the BCV and had a wooded view that I thought was lovely. I also like the BCV pool view.

BCV can be tougher to get into because it is a smaller resort.

If you have a car, the self parking at BWV is far from the entrance to the building. Self parking at BCV is right next to the villas. You can valet at both, but at BCV, self parking is closer.

We like BCV better than BWV because it is less hectic and noisy than the BW area. BCV is very quiet.

We own at both. BCV has SAB and a shorter walk to EPCOT. BWV has the best view we have seen at any DVC at WDW. I wiil not stay at BWV if a BW view can not be had. We also own at OKW and a good water/golf view is better than any view at BCV but SAB is worthy.

We have stayed at both, and I like BCV the least although I would stay at either in a heartbeat.

The view at BCV (at least the one we had) was pretty much of nothing but a few trees. However, we love Beaches N Cream and the pool is great. BCV just seems like it is squashed in there. If it had the location of the actual Beach Club it would be a different story.

We love Boardwalk. The cons would be the lack of a good fast food option although the food cart and pizza window will do in a bind. We love the atmosphere of the Boardwalk, and we love relaxing on the balcony overlooking the action at night.

Do yourself a favor and stay at both before you buy. How many people have bought without trying the place out then said to themselves, "those darn DISers, they don't know what they're talking about". :)

:rotfl: LOL-Although we really do wish we'd stayed at different DVC resorts before we bought (then we could have avoided selling one and buying another), don't worry, we didn't blame it on the DIS.

We've stayed at both BWV and BCV since December. My wife and I both thought BCV was a bit nicer and cleaner. I also like having a coffee table in the BCV studios. However, we lucked out at got a BW view at BWV. We were in the 1 bedroom villa right above Big River Grill....and yes, it was the absolute coolest view we have ever had from a room at WDW :cool1: . We could stand out there for hours and just watch everything that's going on. Plus the location of BWV is the just the best. Nice esy walk to Epcot, and nice easy (longer) walk to DHS.

Most of the negatives about each resort is the inverse of the positives of the other resort. For instance:

BCV doesn't have great Boardwalk View rooms, or lower point schedule rooms, or a Community Hall.

BWV doesn't have SAB, EPCOT views that match BCV's, dedicated 2BR's, etc.

I agree with WildernessDad...what is important to you about your vacation accommodations? Views? Dedicated 2BR's? Availability at less than the 11 month mark? Theming? Amenities?

Tell us more about what you think is most important, and we can probably help you better.

Rest assured, they are both great resorts so it's not like you can make a poor choice. :)

Just booking Day-by-day for F & W now.

I like BWV studios because the area underneath the bathroom vanity is enclosed. I like BCV studios because of the coffee table and SAB.

This trip we're ending up at BWV with a preferred view. The trip is now timed to the Oct 16th shuttle launch. Of course the launch date could easily change, and DH will again miss his life goal of seeing a space launch up close and personal.

Then we'll just have to enjoy the F & W festival, and Luna Pool. I would be happy at either BCV or BWV so I guess I'm no real help.

Like them both, but in the end, as a family we prefer BCV. Why?

-SAB- kids love the pool, though they prefer the "demented clown slide" at BWV
-Overall feel of the resort is quieter, more relaxing
-On our last trip, BC/YC had their own buses
-We usually drive, so the closer parking is a plus
-Shorter walk to Beaches and Cream

Now to muddle the waters, what we prefer about BWV:

-The boardwalk views. Amazing.
-The public areas, especially the lobby and verandah outside of it.

We own at BCV. but stayed at BWV on our last trip. Had a great time, loved the resort, but when we walked over to BCV we found we really missed "home".

I'd be happy to stay at either one, though.

I really like them both, but...I think we like BWV a little bit more!

BCV-Love SAB, Beaches & Cream, and the decor!
Not so much- had a terrible view and no privacy on the balconies

BWV-Love the pool too! (Of course, it is not quite as grand as SAB, but the Keister Coaster is really fun!) Loved the balcony and our view, the atmosphere, and the boardwalk!
Not so much- I can't really think of anything! That is why we are booked there again this summer!

I just bought into BWV sight unseen.

I knew I wanted the location of BCV or BWV. After reading about the pros and cons of each resort I decided on the BWV. The tipping point for me was the availability of points saving SV units at the BWV.

If BCV had points saving SV units my decision would have been much tougher.

To me SAB can be the best and worst of BCV.....

I loved SAB don't get me wrong....but I like going down to the pool and chilling on my lounge chair....going in and out of the pool at my leisure.

SAB is work....it is so big that the kids want to run here, there and everywhere and then the slide. Unless your kids are older SAB is NOT relaxing.

Will stay at BWV for the 1st time in april.....the lack of counter service there
is my only worry.
Kerri
