Help me decide : BCV or BWV? What do you like the least?

Our home resort is BWV for the last 13 years, in that time I have been to every resort including VB and HH but have never been able to get into the BCV even at the 7th month window that would be a concern for me owning there only because it is not always possible to book 11 months out depending on work schedules and our childrens college schedules. I know that the lack of counter service is a problem for people but to be honest we have always used the entire BW area as our resort so the carts and pizza windows and bakery have always worked out fine. The room service delivered right to the pool is probally one of my favorites also so it really has never been huge problem for our family, I guess you really do just have to choose based on your priorities.

BWV: long, cold hallways; longer walk to EPCOT; more conventions; difficult parking(generally far away & an uphill walk or use valet); must go outside for dining and most shopping(can be a problem in bad weather).

BCV: no really good views; longer walk to MGM; more points than standard view at BWV; no grand villas; more difficult to get a reservation if you are not an owner here.


We love both resorts, but if you have a car and plan to use it frequently during you stay, in our opinion, the parking at BWV is a real nuisance. The parking at BCV is much more convenient.

As you can see, you're pretty much getting the standard answers of the differences.

I've yet to stay in either (my BWV trip is in September) but I visit both frequently on my long trips. For me the parking issue and building placements stand out the most. It is a pain having to find a spot in the BWV lot and then walk across a bridge (the length of the half the resort) just to get to the entrance. And that is for the closest HA spot. I don't do valet.

BCV's building is clearly an afterthought on Disney's behalf and has some of the worst views in the area. You won't be seeing Crescent Lake because those views are reserved for the hotel. But the biggest bad in my book is SAB. I thoroughly despise that pool as being the prettiest tease on property because it is horribly inaccessible for the disabled (like me). It's absolutely fabulous for families of middle school kids though.

The best thing you can do is to visit the resorts yourself. BWV has rooms you can tour. BCV's facilities are open to touring, even the pool (though you can't go in it). Both are great choices if you're looking for walking access to EPCOT and MGM/DHS.

If it were me, I'd buy at BWV (though I can't use that pool either). Reason being that I could get better views, save points on Standard rooms (equal to OKW costs) and have a better chance of getting rooms outside 11 mos. since it is a bigger resort.

Neither make a good buy for me though due to the downsides and the 2042 expiration date. I'd prefer OKW, SSR, AKV or KTR with their longer contracts (2054-2060).

Although we own at both BC & BW, I prefer BC due to the closeness to the International Gateway and the Marketplace...I can go down and refill my mug while it's open.....BW you have to go and wait on line to have your mug refilled, which is sometimes a very lengthy wait.

As the original poster, thanks for everyone's thoughts. It wasn't my intent to invite people to bash either resort. I had asked about the dislikes because I've found that whatever big purchase item we get (house, car etc.) that after time we end up taking the big positives for granted, and only notice the negatives even if they are minimal.

I realize we would be taking a risk by not having stayed at either, but judging by everyone's comments (including a close friend in a similar family situation as us, who always stays at BC), and having visited the Boardwalk/Epcot before (without staying there) we really can't go wrong with either. We've only stayed at AKV and HH before - while the kids love AKV and AK because they like 'saving the baby elephant' during the Safari, I can't see them wanting to be close to AK for that reason when they're teenagers.

The point about the lack of dedicated 2-BR will be a big point for us. At HH I had two of the kids stay in the room with the 2 queens, and the third stayed on the pull-out (at her specific request!). The two sharing the room would have an issue sharing one bed (they're twins, so they fight over everything!). The other big issue will be the proximity to parking. The views at BCV (or lack thereof) won't be a huge issue. While the need to keep a close eye on the kids at SAB will limit us from relaxing as much as possible for the first few years, hopefully it won't be as much as a deal when they're older.

My husband and I are split. He likes BCV and I am partial to BW. One thing the BW does not have is Art the greeter. What a reflection of Disney he is. Such a pleasant man. We had Boadwalk view a couple of years ago and it was amazing. Like everyone said, BC views are not as great. BC is a calmer atmosphere but the BW is fun at night. You have the bakery at BW in the morning but Beaches and Cream at night at BCV. The BCV quiet pool is very convenient to the rooms. We are "home" in 5 minutes at BCV and sometimes after a day in EPCOT the BW seems like forever-boy, are we spoiled! It's just a matter of preference. Either one-how can you go wrong! You are in Disney!
