Help me cross Club 33 off bucket list?

I've been a few times to Club 33 through a distance connection. Living here makes it much easier to go. Two of the times I've been invited have been on a last minute cancelation by someone else and I was offered the open spot. I was told under the new rules, the Club 33 member doesn't have the freedom as before and HIS waiting/priority list was exploded.

Actually, they are not cutting down on the number of reservations a member can make. What they've done is limit the number of complimentary passes to which a member has access.

Oh okay, yeah, sorry, I knew that.
When I said cutting the number of reservations, I meant cutting the number of reservations they can make on behalf of others.

I'm sorry, that is not correct. The number of reservations they can make on behalf of others has not been cut. They can make as many reservations as they have always made or more, if they wish.

A member can make as many reservations as they wish for others. However, they are limited to 50 complimentary tickets a year. So, most members are making sure people know they will need their own entry tickets if they want to visit Club 33.

So one day was standing across the street from the door, casually looking toward the door waiting to see anyone go in or go out and I told a street sweeper who was passing by that I saw someone go in there, and asked what it was.

He said, "I honestly have no idea" and kept right on walking.

We both knew better, it was kind of a funny experience. :rotfl:

Mark me down for one of the people who wants to go so badly. About a year and a half ago I sent a request to be put on the waiting list, and got a letter back saying that they were no longer taking names on the waiting list. That's the closest I've ever gotten to Club 33.

When they announced that they were reopening the wait list in May, I made another formal request, but I don't think I'll follow through because the price increase is more than I can afford to spend on such a luxury.

If anyone sees this and wants to send some club 33 lovin' my way, that'd be awesome. It's just my wife and I, two very quiet and polite people in our mid 20's who would be grateful for an opportunity to go before we have kids. We'd be willing to go any time a reservation could be made. If you're out there, and would be willing to get us in, just send a PM. I'll never let anyone know who it was that got us in, we'd be model citizens and not put your membership in jeopardy, and we'd hang a portrait of you in our house so that we would always remember what you did for us. :thumbsup2

Oh... and sorry to threadjack, OP.

I feel your pain, Brumbie. I am a newly-obsessed DL fanatic since visiting in April, and I'm already planning multiple return trips. I've been reading and watching anything I can get my hands on about the history of DL. My DW and I will have ONE evening while we're there on our next trip when we will not be encumbered by DD4, and I want to make that evening as magical as possible since we get very little time to ourselves. Club 33 would be the absolute pinnacle of anything I could think up, but I'm keeping my expectations very realistic. I am a completely new member, and, while I am planning on being around these parts and participating for a very long time, I could hardly expect someone who doesn't know me at all to risk using a reservation for me. For now, I'll make do with Carthay Circle and WOC, which I know will be magical enough all on its own.

ok now before you give everybody a heart attack:rotfl:...what it is, if you book a VIP tour, you can request to have the option to dine at Club 33 but it is not guaranteed...in fact, if you want to be honest, I wonder how many people have actually gotten to do it...if it was that easy there would be less reason to buy membership :confused3...so you are paying $275 per hour (minimum 6 hours) during off peak season for no guarantee...uh i will pass *sigh*
VIP Tour access to Club 33 is a recent change in policy, which might be worthwhile for a "once in a lifetime" event.

You could help yourself :goodvibes
Based on some recent posts on MiceAge, it is now possible to dine at Club 33 as part of a VIP tour. VIP tours are available to anyone willing to pay the price :lmao:
I checked on this when I read it, and was told they will attempt to make a reservation, however if the club is expected to be running close to capacity, or if the club becomes full after making your reservation and a member requests a reservation, you will get bumped to Carthay.

I think it doesn't hurt to ask!

I was so incredibly lucky to get to go this year for lunch. I often think about the person who gave me the reservation and hope they know how much it meant to my daughter and me. I doubt we will ever be fortunate to go again, but just to go once and have those pictures and that experience with my daughter was a highlight of my life.

One thing that we got there that was very neat was the Club 33 mickey ears. They are a prize pocession of my daughter! She is 15 and we are both the ultimate Disney geeks, so to be able to not only dine there but also to be able to tour the restaurant and talk to everyone there was incredible for us.:goodvibes

Oh okay, now I understand.
The first time, I thought I understood, now I actually understand! :thumbsup2

This makes VIP Tours less desirable if the only objective is to dine at Club 33.
If someone is already taking a VIP Tour, Club 33 is a great added feature.

Can I ask you how much the ears were? Just curious. :) My DD15 is the reason I have a trip ticker, we are going for her 16th birthday, which is Sunday! :)

We had the same opportunity this year, and continue to have the exact same warm feelings about the person who gave my family the opportunity!

We also got the ears, and they sit in our china cabinet on loving display. :goodvibes

Did you get a reservation made for you? What a great birthday~Have a great time.

The limit of 50 park hoppers a member gets was a way to attempt to reduce the # of reservations. The average person, if asked to go to the Club, would do it back in the day because the price of the meal negated the PH price. Now the average Joe would not want to spend the price of admission + dining since most do not really understand the opportunity they are given.
A die hard Disney fan would do it in a second.

Sorry, Kerri--
I can't remember. This was back in Febuary when we went. We also got a Club 33 pin, which is a great keepsake too.

My sister's husband's uncle (got that?) had a membership to Club 33. My sister knew I liked Disneyland but didn't know the level of my fanaticism or my lifelong dream to visit club 33.

She went on a trip to DLR with his family. She came back and told me about the private club at Disneyland they had a lunch reservation for but they didn't feel like going and took a nap at the hotel instead.

I. Nearly. Died.

Once I relayed to them my dreams of visiting Club 33 (and had properly chastised them for brushing it off) they promised to get me on the list for my next trip to DLR.

Before that happened, my sister got a divorce and I narrowly missed my once-in-a-lifetime chance at Club 33.

Sigh.

The last time I got them, they were $22+/-. Just a warning, they didn't have them last Monday. BUT, make sure you pay with a credit card, and you will get a pen you can keep! They did have the Christmas pin, a shot glass, latte mugs, shirts, a scarf, and a few other items available last week. OH, the baseball cap! (MY daughter's prized possession.)

I will have to get a cap if they have them in Aug.

My son and daughter-in-law just returned from their honeymoon. Thanks to a wonderful friend I met indirectly through DIS, they were able to go to Club 33. The chef made them a special honeymoon cake and brought them a couple of very interesting items off the menu! They had a fabulous time. And...they brought me a latte mug :thumbsup2. I have the ball cap, 33 ears, a holiday pin and keychain, all sitting pretty in my glass cabinet. I wear the cap sometimes and use the keychain occasionally. I loved wearing the ears while at DLR.

To anyone listening... This die hard Disney fan will do it in a second!
No need to waste an admission on me, I'll pay for my own admission, heck, I'll pay for yours for the day, too!:thumbsup2
