I would really like to join the DVC before the price goes up. We were just at WDW and did the tour. My dh likes all he saw but is still on the fence about joining. Actually, he wants to know what you guys think are the benefits of it. Please help me convice him!!!!

Hi, I bought into DVC in 2002 with my spouse really not thrilled at the idea of a timeshare or disney. After this winter, he is looking forward to the many winters (if only 2 or 3 weeks) being spent in warm central florida. I have assured him I will not "drag" him to the parks each year. There is so much more to do at WDW and surrounding areas other than theme parks. There are many different sports to take in around central fla, if he is a sports guy. I also think DVC is the perfect location for the "magical feeling" only
WDW can give you. It is the best vacation to offer a person, in my opinion.

We purchased because we were able to afford rooms as members that we would NEVER had paid for otherwise. We always want to be on property, but would have not been able to afford the cash prices for these resorts.

Also, we love the space of the rooms and kitchens. We are able to go more often as we can keep expenses down by eating in the room sometimes. Don't get me wrong, we eat out plenty, but having breakfast or lunch in the room really helps.

We have NEVER regretted our decision, and are able to go 2 times per year!!

The big benefit for me is planning & taking a great vacation. If your DH works hard, he'll really appreciate this wonderful treat each year.

Also, to push him off the fence, appeal to his basic maleness. One and two bedroom units have a jacuzzi. Hint-Hint! :love2:

I also feel that it is a wonderful legacy to leave for children, grand children, etc.

Reasons We Bought:
1. We knew we'd be going to WDW at least once a year(actuially, DVC enables us to go more often)
2. We felt it was easier to pay a smaller amount each month toward the loan than to have to come up with a big "chunk of change" for the vacation. For us, the cost of accomodations was always a challenge.
3. We like the idea of being able to stay in superior accomodations. Even the studios, which most closely compare to a regular hotel room, are still better than a regular hotel room due to the spaciousness and kitchenette.
4. There is some room for saving money, because you have the ability to do meals in your room...we always do breakfast, and I know folks with kids who get up early, do breakfast, hit the parks, come back for a break and make lunch/swim, then go out at night again and do dinner, so they are essentially having 2 meals in their room that they would otherwise be paying for in the parks or wherever.
5. It decreases the feeling of needing to do the "commando" touring. When we bought DVC, our attitude quickly became "we'll be back". If a park is crowded, or we're tired of walking around, we go back to the reosrt and enjoy the pool. There is no longer that feeling of "this may be a once-in-a-lifetime thing", so the vacation is truly relaxing, instead of being exhasting like some WDW vacations can be!
6. It decreases the amount of packing you need to do, because if you get a 1BR or larger, you have a washer/dryer, and can therefore do a load of laundry here and there. It's right in your unit, so it's very convenient.
7. When we bought our first contract, we purchased it through Disney and financed it over 10 years, because the 10 year loan had the lowest monthly payment. Our thought was that we could always pay more toward the monthly payment when possible, but the only amount we'd HAVE to come up with was the minimum payment. That worked well for us, and we got it paid off in about 3/12 years.
8. It is truly a purchase that we have never, not for one minute, ever regretted making.
9. If the prices are going to go up, it would make sense to buy now. Why wait a month and decide to do it, and then pay more???

God luck!
