Ok..here's my dilemma - I know it's far away...but I really want to go on DCL for my 30th b-day NEXT October (2004) -giving us plenty of time to save.
I found the price for hubby, me and our 2 kids of 2100 for the 4 day...here I'm thinkin....that's not bad!! I realize it may go up a little by the time I can afford the deposit..but probably not more than 2500 total...right?????
Well..hubby says we should be able to cruise on a special for 299 a person...1200 total (because those are the deals we had before on Carnival and Royal Carribean) ...
I'm trying to convince him that Disney is worth the extra money, and thats the one I want to take the kids on!
What things are different and better that make Disney worth double Carnival??????? I'm willing..he needs coaxing

Thanks!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Tracy

You get what you pay for.

But...thing is ...we reeally enjoyed Carnival - I'm just wanting the new experience...I'm wanting Disney!!
- We all know I'll get my way :smooth: well...as long as he doesn't see I wrote that...LOL, but I want him to be happy about it!!

The differences between Carnival and DCL could probably make a VERY long list..... I've never been on Carnival, but I have been on NCL three times. I found the overall atmosphere on DCL to be much more friendly and relaxed. It seemed that every CM was genuinely concerned that we (myself, DW and DS9) were having a great time, with no hassles or worries. The entertainment on DCL beats anything I had ever seen on NCL. The list could go on and on.

According to your countdown counter, you're going to WDW for the first time very soon. Perhaps that trip will convince him that Disney is definitely a "class act" and worth the money.

Just my $.02 worth but, for a family trip, I would go with DCL over any other cruise line. I'm learning (maybe a little late in life) that you only get one chance to do things with your kids when they are young, so do the things that they (and you) will always remember. I have never seen my DS more excited than on his first trip to WDW and on the Wonder.

Good Luck......

We went through Costco and for four people it costs us about $1600 for a four day cruise in October. Granted, we booked a "guaranteed" CAt 11 but we have already been upgraded to a Cat 9 with a porthole. I think if you don't care about the room since you are rarely in the room, you can find a better deal than $2100. Then, you can spend more money on spa treatments and hubby will think he got a great deal. We also booked last month for the cruise in October.

If all else fails, go without hubby and save the money that way.
(just joking).

Hey..>Takemeaway..I used to live in Paradise..in Ca :)
Anyways...leaving hubby behind..hmmm...LOL..just kidding..:teeth:
Like I said..this is for next year, so by the time we have enough for down payment...maybe we'll find a deal?????? Here's hoping!!
LOL - we still need to pay for THIS trip we're taking in...what's my counter say...11 days..20 hrs n so?? WOOOHOO :)

cali2gagirl,

We just came back form a great 7 days at WDW. DH was so impressed with the service and atmosphere at WDW that he has agreed to book a cruise for the summer of 2005. We have cruised NCL before and had a great time, but I am convinced that Disney will do a better job, especially with the kids. I just can't wait until I am able to book our cruise!

From what we've noticed, anyone that we saw that said that they had children with them - never had the children with them! They all said that the kids were having such a great time that it was like cruising without them. That to me is a great selling point - darling children have a great time and mom and dad have some romantic time to themselves!

I thought-and I could be wrong...was that the only "deals" dcl gives now are the "early booking discount"...unless you can find a better price elsewhere (thru TA or what not) So, don't wait too long...the other idea is that you could always "surprise" the hubby...
