I am driving myself crazy trying to decide which resort. Experts, please weigh in. Currently booked at Beach Club in standard view room. However, I can rent points to stay in a Kidani studio for $800 less over the 5 nights. I'm traveling with my will-be 12 month old and 4 year old. We stayed at the Poly this past Nov. My preference is the monorail, but there are no hotels in our budget for when we go. Which would you choose? I know BC is better for ease of transport, but for $800, I am thinking we should suck up the buses. Help me!

You can't go wrong with either. I've stayed at both, BC/YC is my go to resort because we love Epcot. You are going to have to take the bus to MK and AK from BC anyway, you can walk or boat to both Epcot and HS. AK is a beautiful resort and the kids will probably love the animals. Did you try Swan/Dolphin? You have to factor in the resort fee but they often have discounts for things like AAA and if you have sheraton points they work there. It would be less than BC, I've found you have to really run the numbers though, had they not had a special discount code for the time I'm going on the my next trip with the resort fee and parking (I drive down) it would have cost the same at AKL but that was for a room with a balcony.

I would take BC, it will be nice just to walk (with a very young family) to EPCOT or take a boat over to HS. The Boardwalk area will be a nice walk, BC has that little sandy area for the kids to play in. BC will be much more relaxing!

Kidani Village for the win. Seriously! Lets start with giraffes! hello!!!! Also their pool is awesome fun with a slide that even old guys (or so I've been told) can enjoy. The whole AKL experience is worth it. Lets also not forget the food choices that you are close to (Jambo house is walking distance, 10 mins max). You can spend a whole day just at your resort and have a great time. They offer interaction classes for the kids in the evening (native drumming when we were their last), animal evening watching with native folk to chat with. I think the answer is quite clear.

It depends on what park you plan to spend the most time in. If you love EPCOT then BC is the choice. If you're going to be at AK then AKL makes the most sense. Personally, I would go for the discount and deal with the buses but I have never had an issue with the buses. I must get lucky every time because I never leave saying I hate the bus transportation.

I think you should do AKL, I've never stayed there but $800 is a BIG difference and thats money you could use towards dining or souvenirs and stuff. I am not a fan of buses, we have a youngster too and bc of that reason I prefer the monorail resorts. But the good news is I believe AKL has its own bus line. I don't think it shares a bus with any other resort so when you look at it I would suck it up and deal with it and go with. Gives you extra spending cash. At least thats the way I see things lol

All such good points! The parks we plan on going to are MK, AK and Epcot for the flower festival. We went to HS in Nov for a quick visit, and I think with all the construction plans, it didn't have much to offer us right now. Therefore, BC has the proximity to Epcot for us, but AKL has the proximity to AK...

Does the theming of one resort appeal to you more than the other?

If you have no clear preference between these two resorts, then either decision is probably OK.
