So we are going next dec/jan. going to catch the tail end of the Christmas week craziness and then staying til jan 6. We are trying to decide between the Beach Club and the French Quarter. I would really like to be able to walk to two parks, but I am concerned that time of the year there is a chance it will be too cold to really enjoy the pool which would be a big reason to stay there. We stayed at the Poly last time and I'm afraid I have been spoiled by the ease of transportation. However we stayed at the FQ in 2007 and I LOVED it! Plus the FQ is 1600, cheaper, which means another trip will happen sooner. What would you do?

We stayed at BWV this past Christmas week (12/25 - 12/30) and, yes, being within walking distance of two parks made a HUGE difference. We only took two buses, MK and AK, and, honestly, it wasn't fun. We waited 30 minutes for the AK bus (not bad at all), but the MK bus was not fun. Getting a bus wasn't difficult, but, because of the MK traffic it took much, much longer than usual to get to MK. We spent 3 half days in EP and 1 afternoon in DHS and it was SO nice to be able to get in and out easily without waiting for buses or boats.

Have you thought about a split? I would imagine once you hit Jan. 3, the crowds will disperse a bit and you could move to POFQ then? Prior to that, I would get as close to the parks without busing as you can and would base the decision on what parks you want to go to. Perhaps do BC and focus on EP and DHS and then do POFQ and focus on MK and AK?

For a January trip I would stay at the French Quarter if I had a car. Not a fan of waiting for the buses. If we did not have a car, I love the convenience of the deluxe resorts. I am not adventurous to swim in January so it would make it a little easier to choose a moderate as we wouldn't be using the pool anywhere. Save money, rent a car. That would be how we would do it. BTW I loved Port Orleans when we stayed!!

We have stayed at FQ over Christmas in the past and this year at CSR. Took buses on all our trips and both were fine. Bonus of FQ is the boat to Disney Springs / downtown. However, walking to parks would be nice - but not $1,600.

If you do opt for FQ and have nice weather - you can use POR pool too. We had 80's our entire trip this year - but that was unusual. However, we have used the pool during all 3 of our Christmas trips.
