Next week I have to buy a new laptop computer. The one I'm replacing is an HP ZE5620us and I really liked it. It cost me around $1200 a year and a half ago. I'd like to keep the price around that or less -- between $900 and $1200 (preferably with rebates to make it lower!).
Basically I do a lot of internet surfing, a lot of word processing, some picture editing & storing, watch DVDs, and just general personal computing kind of stuff.
Right now I'm working on a Dell Inspiron and it stinks! I don't think I really want to go with another Dell, but I could be persuaded. I loved my HP and I'm just heartbroken that it died.
Any recommendations?
ETA: I found one! It's an HP Pavilion ZV6130 and you can see it here: Laptop I found it for $849 after a $50 rebate at Staples. DH was very impressed with it, and I was too. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions! I looked at the Apples and was very impressed with the user reviews, but I decided to stick with a PC for now.

Even with DH's coworker replacing it for a six-pack of beer
it would cost more to fix than we want to put into it. Everywhere I've checked for it says it would be around $800 to fix.
