Hi one of our large duffle bags was ripped on our way

Need to get a new suitcase or large duffle

Does anyone know a good place to look.
Like outlet mall which one or what store at the outlet mall?
I don't wart to spend to much time looking, I have to go offsite to get something else today or tomorrow.
If I have short list of places to look it would help

I'm hoping to not purchase the Disney luggage in the resort shop

I always check out TJ Maxx when I want decent luggage for a good price. Looks like there is one off of International Dr but it is closer to Universal.

Hope you find something.

Same thing happened to us a couple of trips back. We went to the nearest Ross and got a new suitcase - they had a pretty nice selection. There is one at the Osceola Square mall in Kissimmee - calling it a mall is being nice though so don't expect to shop around. Even when we lived a couple of blocks away from this place 10 years ago there were only 2 stores ;)

Or you can just go to Walmart.

Its more like the bus depot than a mall. The major shopping center is the one on Osceola Pkwy and John Young called the Loop. The only upside to the mall is it is the last stop on the 192 bus route, I think it's the 56 line.
Or you could use the route that goes to the airport, I belive the 101 or 103, and it stops at the Florida Mall. It picks up at downtown disney by the Cirq building. That one is still in full swing. At least with the lynx bus its only a couple bucks each way, and the buses are relatively nice. Going to I-drive is more complicated and the outlets on the other side of the highway, I would use a taxi for that.

Out of curiosity, when the airline damages your duffel, do they give you a credit toward a replacement?

When we went in Feb, we just had all 5 of us take carry on luggage so we didn't have to pay to check it. Then, we bought too much stuff while we were there! We just bought a huge duffle bag at one of the many t-shirt/souvenier shops, seems like it was the one that looks like a wizard. Seems like it was about $25 or so. We were going to need another one for our sons to take camping, anyway!

It might have had a claim. But my husband grabbed the luggage and then put it in the car at the airport.
I didn't know about the damage until we got to the hotel. But we had 2 days of rooms issues, so the suitcase hasn't been addressed yet.

I would follow up with the airline. My DH had them lose his bag and then find it again just in time for him to pick it up on the way back home. No clothes etc for a week. Both the airline and the insurance co. paid

I travel a lot and never use "nice expensive luggage" anymore. I have had my bags damaged too many times. The first time it ever happened was a really expensive Samsonite hardsided bag. They dented the corner of it in. They took my bag and sent it off to be "fixed". What I got back was a $300 suitcase with some type of bondo epoxy covering the dent. It looked HORRIBLE!!! I was not happy at all, and would rather have had the money to buy a new one but unfortunately that was not an option.

Now I take an el cheapo soft sided roller type bag. When my last one was ripped I simply went over to baggage services and showed them the damage. They promptly gave me a brand new roller bag from the back. Not only was it new, but it was much nicer than the one they damaged.

Damage needs to be reported to the airline within 24 hours for then to repair/replace/compensate. Still, talk to the airline, depending on the airline they may at least offer miles/money off a future flight since it's after the 24 hour period.

if you're a Costco member, check them out. Our Costco has some good stuff right now, and we've had good luck with their Ful and Ricardo bags. They also have Kirkland and Samsonite now, at least at our store.

You would need to check the exact info for your airline. I know the one time I checked (don't remember the airline), if luggage was damaged they gave something like $75. That wouldn't have even replaced my bag, let alone anything damaged inside of it.

I flew southwest

Nothing was damaged. It was mostly filled with diapers so luckily nothing fell out, where the big rip was

Damage claims are different. You have to file them within 24 hours, and in some cases, before you leave the airport. Once you leave, most of the time you will have great difficulty in getting a claim paid by the airline. However, if you do file before leaving the airport, most of the time they will be very good about paying right away for a replacement bag. Damages for the items inside will depend upon the airlines contract of carriage; normally there is a flat damage payment rate unless you are actually able to produce receipts for the items. (I do know some business travellers who got a voucher for dry-cleaning when a bag was left out in a downpour for an extended period. Rainstorms and silk neckties don't mix well.)

Wear and tear are not subject to claims. This includes popped-open zippers and missing zipper pulls, stains, and scuffs. Broken wheels do count, but usually what you are given is the name of an authorized repair company to send the baggage to, they won't replace the entire bag for a broken wheel.

Best experience that I ever had in this regard was with British Midland. They gashed our carseat satchel, and insisted on paying me GBP50 on the spot to replace it, even though it had only cost $30. The kicker is that the satchel is thick vinyl, so I temporarily duct-taped it for the return trip to the States, then bought a $5 vinyl repair kit at an auto parts store. It took about 20 minutes to fix, and we continued to use it for the next 12 years.

I had some guys in front of me at an airport that had damaged bags. My bags didn't even make it to the destination. Anyway, the airline (Delta) pulled out brand new suitcases and gave it to them. They were nice too. I guess it just depends on the airport.

When my Samsonite had problems after what appeared to be usual wear and tear after a flight - i sent it back to Samsonite. they repaired. I had another one that they just flat out replaced because there was a zipper issue.

ETA - you MUST file a claim before you leave the airport with your luggage!

I've lost two suitcases to Southwest this year. From what I can tell, both times the TSA approved lock caught on something in their system, ripping the zippers off. They say, zipper not covered. The first time I bought a three piece set at BJs. The second one I duck taped shut for the trip home. (funny picture!)
To add insult to injury, I then bought a giant LL Bean duffel. Get to Orlando and the one zipper pull is off and the lock is missing.

Southwest 3, RedWitch 0. End game.

USAir damaged a wheel chair gate checked. I had a replacement one in just days.

I just saw a great 30" Samsonite duffel on wheels for $69.99 at SAMs Club this week. We have Mother Lode EBags which have lasted dozens of trips. This one looks similar, very well made and the cost isfantastic!

I just picked up a Teal hard sider Samsonite or American Tourister at SAMs in the Spring for our cruise. 28" and packed without major wrinkles.

I wonder how this would work with DME. We never see our luggage until it is delivered to our room.

If you leave property from Sherbeth Rd (the road the runs in front of the AKL so head to the lodge and at the stoplight just beforehand turn left onto Sherbeth)......turn right onto 192 (first stoplight on Sherbeth ), get into the left hand lane and follow that road down a couple miles and there is a shopping center on the left with a Target, a new TJMaxx and a Ross. It is on Rolling Oak Dr (lane?). You can't miss it. It is just before the toll road.

There is also a junk shop (those weird gift shops all over the place) that is connected to Golden Corral that has luggage for sale but it didn't look too inexpensive, $80 for a hard side rollling suitcase.

For simplicity's sake in this case I would probably just go to Wal-Mart to get a new piece of luggage.

Ross must have good prices always see people walking out with luggage.
