hi guys, i wanted some advice: how much money should i take? we are leaving at end of may and will be staying for 6 days. we are a family of 5 with 3 kids (age 6, 4, and 10 months). we will also be doing the disney dining plan and also have 233 disney dollars. Any advice is appreciated. I am not sure how much cash to take, and we also have our disney visa. please advise. Thanks!!!!!!

I didn't have much cash on me at all for our last two trips. We did the dining plan and took our Disney Visa. Tips went on the Visa points that we earned and we used our disney Visa or points to purchase souvenirs. We also only used our Disney Visa to fill up the rental car on the way to the airport....only needed a half a tank and we also stopped to purchase groceries on the way to the resort and used the Visa.

We leave in just 9 days...
We also are a family of 5, DDP, 7 nights..
I plan on bringing @ $600
$300 in cash to be used for tips including shuttle drivers, skycaps, bellhops, mousekeeping and TS (according to allears menus, ts tips should all be around $20)... all tips will be in cash...

The rest will be put on our KTTW card for extras. Kids are getting a fixed amount for souvies and any extra items we may need.
Hoping that this is enough...

I've got quite a few more items to buy before we leave including cases of water on costco.com, miscellaneous beauty items and water shoes. Not figuring this into our budget because it will probably end up matching what we would spend in groceries for a week.

Have fun planning!

We have a family of 4, kids are 9 and 7. We allot $200 per day. We never spend that much, but we have lots of fun trying to spend it!

If this is your first trip you will most likely spend a fair amount on souvies and extras. I would estimate that you will need about $100 for tipping at your TS meals (reg DDP...DxDDP will be more). Then maybe $100 per day for extras.

It all really depends on your spending habits.

Holy cow! You guys take a lot of cash!

For a 9 day trip, we took $100 and came home with $40.

It was way easier to just charge stuff to the room.

I don't spend what I suggested.....not even close. Last summer we spent $1100 for a 15 day trip. That included meals, souvies and anything I paid cash for. That works out to $73 per day for everything for a family of 4.

We're leaving in 32 days (it's just DH and I), we are taking $1,000.00. :cool1:

DH and I bring about $500.00 when we go for a 7 day trip and always come home with at least half of it. We usually carry little cash to parks. We use gift cards and credit card hooked up to our room key.

Man we must spend way too much! I usually bring around $2000.00 for our 10 night trips and I still end up using the credit card!
