What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Bad grrl today.
Spent the entire day wandering the Upper Westside doing a good imitation of shopping till I dropped. Oops, actually D did the hard work, I just get pushed around, lol.
Anyway, bought wicker storage baskets at Pottery Barn and Target, contemplated buying new tableware for the Lunar New Year but decided (wisely) that new napkins would be enough.
Then up to 81st Street to restock on goodies from Zabar’s. Had planned to buy some smoked fish from Murray’s Sturgeon but decided that the poached salmon with watercress sauce from down the street was enough.

D. and I treated ourselves to Ollie’s Noodle Shop for lunch/dinner : cold sesame noodles, roast pork and chicken, sautéed long beans, and a Sichuan mixed protein dish with veggies. Of course it was too much food for us so we took the remains back home.

Real fried chicken at Da Wabbit in Gretna, LA. DH and I are staying with my sister and BIL for 5 nights before hopping over to Orlando for 4 nights. I LOVE the fried chicken at Da Wabbit, and for all the amazing food options New Orleans has to offer, I always want a trip to Da Wabbit. I love fried chicken but can't really get good fried chicken in Maine (it's either frozen, or not coated properly, or KFC- but most of those are closed now), so fried chicken from Da Wabbit is always on my "what do you want to do for dinner tonight" list!

ETA: DD and I were in Manhattan last weekend. On the bus drive, we went right by Stew Leonard's, so we had to try to explain to all our bus-trip friends what Stew's is like! I'd also hoped to go to Zabar's while we were in town but there were too many other things going on to find the time to get uptown to 81st. Maybe on the next trip, when I'm in the city for longer and don't have so many other things to do!

Nada last night! Spent the day running around the happiest place on earth with a bunch of friends yesterday. Too tired when I got home and passed out without dinner. 🤣

I’ve got leftovers from this past week, so we’ll see what I can pull together!

Cheers to Friday, all!

Making a Cuban black bean soup today in an attempt to use up my canned beans. Sure it’s easy to open a can of beans but it’s also easy to use dried beans and they take up less storage space. Yep, I’m trying to store less food in the kitchen cabinet which has elder sister deep in the land of 🤷🏽‍♀️; course she has two kitchen (!?!) sooo what do I care what she thinks 😜
Even though it’s probably more Mexican to add sliced radishes atop, I’m going to since I like fresh veggies.
