Help!! Le Cellier or Yachtsman???

Okay, so first off let me just say that God is soo good!! We didn't think we'd be able to go this year but He made it happen!!!

So my dilema is this: we were originally scheduled for 7 nights and had to cut back to 6. When we had 7 nights we had a reservation for both Yachtsman and Le Cellier, but with us dropping a night, we can only do one or the other.

Now that Le Cellier is a signature restaraunt, is it worth the 2 table credits? How are the food and service since the switch? If you could only do one of them, which one would it be and why?

Since the Yachtsman is 2 TS as well, I'd rather spend them there. We've done both, and not that anything is wrong with Le Cellier, we just find the Yachtsman food to be higher quality.

You might want to go take a look at the new LeCeller menu for the 2TS meals... personally, I wasn't that impressed. I would go with Yachtsmen's myself, but check out their new menu first before you decide

Most people have yet to try Le Cellier's upgraded menu. All the reviews I've seen on the boards have been very positive about the new dinner food. I wasn't a fan of LC before (I found it highly overrated), but I've had 3 dinners there since the new menu and was extremely impressed with the food every time. The lobster salad, cheddar soup, steak tartare, mushroom filet, duck breast & confit, salmon, poutine, and truffle crushed potatoes were all especially fantastic, IMO.

But if you're on the DDP, I guess Yachtsman's entrees are more expensive, so that would probably be the better value. Personally, I've never been impressed by their food or atmosphere (it seems like a worse version of Ruth's Chris to me, so I wouldn't waste my time there during a Disney trip), so I would rather choose the more interesting menu (which is Le Cellier to me).

We just returned on the 13th from 10 days in WDW. We did Yachtsman and LeCellier. It was our first time at Yachtsman so maybe we just happened to hit a rough night. While the appetizers there were wonderful and I love dessert, my porterhouse was close to inedible. It was so fatty I struggled to find more than 2 bites on the whole thing. I had originally wanted to order the lobster but they had run out. So my suggestion if you want to try Yachtsman lobster, make an early ADR.

We go to LeCellier every year. We love LeCeller. My husband is the steak eater in the family and rates their steak in the top 3 at WDW. (the other 2 being Narcoossee and Cali Grill). But as someone previously said, Yachtsman might be the better value for 2TS since the meal is more expensive.

Although in the minority here on the DIS, we do not enjoy the food at Yachtsman. We have tried 3 times, and it is one of only 2 restuarants in all of WDW we will not return to. It is a beautiful restaurant, with good service, but the food was not good.
I would go with Le Cellier

I have not yet tried Le'Cellier since it went to 2ts, but I am one that at least on paper am not impressed by what I call only a "tweaking" of the menu. They have to do more than just call it Canadian AAA beef to get me to buy the snake oil they are selling (IMHO,I could be wrong though).

With that, I would recommend Yachtsman over Le'Cellier. Prior to Le'Cellier going to signature I thought their steaks were much better than Le'Cellier and I like the atmosphere much better. Le'Cellier for a signature did not eliminate any tables and are still packed one on top of the other. The decor is still like that of a dark cellar (I know it's by design), and if there is any way I could still wind up having a seat right next to the restroom entrance and a server station (like we had), as a signature, that don't cut it in my book.

Note: Since I am so down on Le'Cellier as some can tell on my scathing opinion of this place, I will be willing to try this place again on my next visit , and if it just blows me away and the Canadian AAA beef is the best thing since Wonder Bread started slicing bread, I will come on here and admit that I am wrong.

I've had the same dilemma. We ended up deciding upon Yachtsman since the menu appeals to me more. The new dinner menu for LeCellier just didn't do it for me either I guess.

Of course I haven't been there since it changed to a 2 TS restaurant, but after trying Yachtsman (and Artist Point) in December, Le Cellier isn't even close to being on our list for future trips. With that said, I would definitely go with Yachtsman .

I felt the same way about Le Cellier before trying the new dinner. Seems most people don't even want to give it a try now, but I was honestly surprised by how improved the food was. Of course, I'm not a big steak person, and if I ever get steak I'll want filet, so variety isn't an issue for me. I prefer Le Cellier's variety of proteins to Yachtsman's variety of steak.

I think as you decide which one to do, you can take some excellent insight form people on both sides of the choice.
But make the choice for what you "want" rather than best "value".

Sounds like Donald enjoys the new entree choices, so for him it makes sense to choose LC over Yacht. For others like me who aren't real excited about the new menu items, then maybe for us it just doesn't make sense to pay 2TS when I am going to order same thing I can get for lunch at LC for 1TS! On our next trip I am going to try and do LC for lunch, but saving my Sig meal creds for something more exciting to us (Yachtsman, Narcoosee's)

Look at the new menu items at LC and if they look exciting to you, go for it!

Although I do like both restaurants I don't feel that Le Cellier warrants 2 TS. If I had to choose only one I would go with Yachstman. This summer we are actually doing Yachtsman for dinner one night and Le Cellier for lunch another day being it is only 1 TS for lunch. Either one you choose I don't think you will be disappointed.

I agree that historically Yachtsman has offered better food, but I don't know that I would decide solely on that basis. I like both restaurants and would go to either depending on how our day was designed and the experience we wanted. Yachtsman is more formal, more sedate and more spread out. Servers tend to be a little more reserved and targeting a fine dining experience. Le Cellier is more personal and has a more energetic vibe. It is noisier and tables are closer together. It is also smaller and in high demand so it is harder to conveniently book.

Think about your plans and what kind of dining experience you want and make your choice. I don't think you will find either venue disappointing.

Can someone shed light on the non-steak entrees and sides at Yachtsman? I currently have both an ADR for LC and YS for dinner in September and will likely only keep one. The plain steak with the mashed potatoes thing does not excite me, but I'm intrigued by the fish and the lamb on the YS menu. I have to say the new dinner menu at LC sounds quite appealing to me, again maybe because i'm not necessarily going for steak, and the few reviews since the chef changed and it went to 2 TS sound quite positive, so I'm having a hard time deciding.
