I have a flight booked with Airtran for 12/03 ... when I first booked it there was a 1hr layover in Atlanta... however when I checked this morning it is now a 6hr layover... Should I start to panic and try to change my flight? or do you think that this might change again??... with two little ones having a 6hr layover is just insane !! !! My DH will just hit the roof.

thanks for your help

I have found that most of the airlines make numerous changes, especially when you book far in advance.
I would call and see if you can not make some changes in your schedules. With that amount of time difference they should make changes without a penalty fee.

Even in Atlanta 6 hours is more than enough time to make your connection. :earboy2:

I second what helenk said. Contact Airtran to see if there's another connection to shorten that layover. Like Delta, Airtran has quite a few Atlanta-Orlando flights.

I hate that!!! See if there are other flights that are good for you. I don't know who Airtran partners are perhaps they can get you a flight. I always book 1st flight out...and it always moves an hour or two...but I have been offered my money back on non refundable tickets.

I am in the same boat...err plane :boat: . I bought tickets for our Dec trip back in April and Airtran has changed the flight times about 4 times. The latest change has put us in Atlanta for a 5 hour layover (increased from 1 1/2h) for our return flight. They have also added another flight with great times that was not available when I booked. I played the odds and did not come out as lucky as I wanted. I agree with above poster...they will probably change at least another 3-4 times before we leave. I had thought about changing our flight for a better one but who knows...that one may change too.

I would call and get it changed. While you are waiting on the next schedule change other folks are calling so... the better flights are filling up. Yes, you may have to call again, but that's not the end of the world.

The last time we flew Airtran we had an early flight into Orlando (non-stop from Pittsburgh). I checked a few weeks later and the flight had changed to a late afternoon arrival. By the time we actually boarded the plane, it was back to it's original time.

If you have the time, I'd just play the waiting game. If you book quite a bit in advance, your chances of it changing are pretty good - and that goes for other airlines as well.

We're flying to New Orleans and we had a straight flight (again out of Pittsburgh) but in checking, it now has one layover in Charlotte and get into New Orleans at 2:45 instead of the original 12:30. It may change again - who knows. I guess that's the price we pay to get cheaper air fares.

I agree that a 6 hour layover with small children is unthinkable. Hopefully they'll either change it back or you'll be able to do something different. It doesn't hurt to call.
