I decided to join DH for a conference at WDW and bring our 3 kids. I consider myself a WDW veteran, but this is the first time we won't be staying at an "official" WDW hotel, and I'm a bit concerned.

We're staying at the Wyndham at DD.

What do I need to know.....I don't have a lot of time to do heavy research.

For example, how is the Wyndham bus service? Is there a food court? Can Wyndham guests do EE?

Is there anything else I should know or be prepared for at the Wyndham at DD?

Thanks for anything you can tell me.

DTD has pretty frequent bus service so that should be OK

Wyndam has little Grocery/fast food place on the first floor which sells your basic food (burgers, sandwiches, cereal, etc...)

Wyndam guests cannot do EE.

The hotel has a nice pool and is an easy walk to DTD.

Your husband should join Wyndham by Request and call to add his number to the reservation. They are supposed to give you best available room at check in. We stayed in a suite in the small building, which was close to the pool, the bus, and had a mini fridge and microwave. If they can give you a room with concierge privileges, take it. They put out a pretty nice spread of fruit and pastries for breakfast. I thought the bus service was pretty good, and their little deli has the usual snack offerings. There is a nice restaurant upstairs, on the top floor and a more casual outback themed restaurant downtstairs.

See if your husband will spring for a massage or facial at their spa.

No food court. NO early entry. Crummy bus service. My family calls this place the Wyndham Dungeon. Go with a car and low expectations for service.

Thanks for the input.....looks like it will either be great or horrible. No matter, we'll all be together.

Anyone else with Wyndham experience? Your input would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

While it is not the RItz, it is not near as bad as Stacy seems to think (She had a bad experience and has spent the last year posting about it!)

The Spa is suppose to be wonderful, but in at least 5 stays I have yet to check it out. LOL!

I have never gotten one of the suites, but I have had some great views of DTD and Epcot. Ask for a view if that is important to you.

I would ask for a renovated floor when you check in. Last time I was there, which was December they were redoing some of the floors (I think just the hall and common area!)

It is a convention hotel, so you will get to walk by a lot of meeting people on your way to your car if you use one. I never let that bother me, but I know it does some people.

Oh come on, it's next to being free!!! Enjoy, look forward to it. It will be absolutely wonderful. The best part are the turtles under the bridge. Feed them your snacks in the morning. It's fun.

Carol is so busy poo-pooing our experience, she forgets to mention she works for Wyndham. Rent the car.

You don't need a car. DTD hotels buses run every 20-30 minutes. You can always take Disney transporation to DTD (from a resort) and then walk.

We stayed next door to the Wyndham and there is absolutely no need for a car. The bus transportation is great and the Wyndham gets the best pick up and drop off schedules. Being next to the Marketplace and Pleasure Island is wonderful.

Enjoy yourself! Please don't let anyone rain on your parade:D

All of this really helps...anyone else with Wyndham experience is more than welcome to chime in...

Thanks, as always, folks!

Thanks for all the info, folks. DH and I will be there for 2 nights later on this month, so I will post about the experience.

Carol is so busy poo-pooing our experience, she forgot to mention she works for Wyndam

Sorry Stacy! I work for a major accounting firm that has NO connection with Wyndam. I have never worked for Wyndam and would diclose it if I did.

I do recall that when you had your stay someone from Wyndam who was posting bent over backwards to try and help you, but you were not satisfied. As I recall I am not sure what could have been done to make you happy about that stay.

I always rent a car even if I stay on site, but I am a southern girl and we like our cars. I don't use Disney transport excep to the Magic Kingdom.

You guys really are great....

Floridagirrl2, be sure to let me know how your upcoming stay at the Wyndham goes....Thanks.

More input welcome..............

I will be staying there from 19 to 23rd of March .Would like to know conditions of rooms? I have two rooms booked through hotwire for $69 per room per night. Also how is Baskervilles?

I would like to bump this thread.

I just did something soooooo stupid. I planned a last minute April vacation trip for April 19-28th (that's not the stupid part). School vacation is 19-23 but air fare wasn't avail until the 28th.

I was able to get Pop Century for $59/night using my AP. THEN, I decided I wanted to split the trip with a portion in DTD. I placed a bid on Priceline for $65/night hoping for the Marriot and got the Wyndham. I started reading reviews (not just here but all over). There are so many BAD reviews.

I am now booked for the Wyndham for April 23-28th and still have the Pop Century for the whole trip. I am wondering if I should just "eat" my stupid bid and stay at the Pop Centure the whole time. BUT I AM NOT RICH. This was so stupid. Last time I took a chance with Hotwire and got the Swan. I guess I was hoping for more pixie dust this time, too!!!!

How does the Wyndham compare to the Grovesnor? I've stayed there and wasn't overly impressed, but I thought it was nice.

I'm so mad at myself for not leaving well enough alone. I got a great price on PC, why did I go and mess it up?????

Thanks,

Sundie

Don't worry. It's worth $65, really. I wouldn't try to cancel, but if you want to switch it to my name, I'll take the free hotel. I thought the rooms were much nicer than POR .

Thanks Momof2! I wasn't overly impressed with the rooms at POR either. The resort is beautiful but the rooms are average.

The Wyndam is MUCH nicer than the Grovesnor and the location is a lot nicer then the Marriott which is not in DTD.

I think you will be fine.

Then I should be quite happy ::yes::

Is the walk to DTD much longer than the Grovesnor? I love the idea of walking to DTD in the evenings!
