Help! just reformatted my sd card on accident!

I am at Disney right now, its my daughters 8th birthday today and I have some great photos. I just accidentally reformatted my SD card. If I stop using it can I recover them? I know I've recovered deleted photos, but not sure about reformatting.

As long as you don't overwrite it you should be able to retrieve your picture.

Reformatting these days usually just means deleting the directory and creating a new one, not wiping out the media. Unless you've overwritten them with something else, the photos are still there.

So relieved! I took the card out and put it away right after I did it. Using my extra card for photos now. I was just concerned since I wasn't sure what reformatting the card meant. Thanks for the quick replies!!

If it helps, I have a friend who just did the same thing and she was able to recover her photos. Oddly enough, she's staying in the same hotel as Justin Bieber tonight.

I would have thought worrying about the photos was enough punishment for one day, much less having to deal with throngs of screaming teenyboppers.
