We have not stayed in Oct. for many years. Are there any AP discounts on rooms at that time of year? Also, I don't think Oct. is value season anymore, so what kind of rates for rooms can you get and are there any other discounts out there. She is 14 and will not have an AP but DH and I both will. Would the values be uncomfortably close quarters with DH 6 ft 1 me and emotionally young teenager? What size beds do they have? We don't have kids so this is new to us.

Wow...yooperfan...sorry if this offends you...but I hope the vibe you give in your post is not what you project to your niece. My parents were divorced when I was young and my Dad remarried, the woman he married is nice, but they never had kids together, and when I was a teen on vacation with them, I always felt like I was in their way....please don't do this to your niece....personally there is nothing I enjoy more than taking new people to experience Disney for the first time. Take it as a challenge to show her the best possible time...you'd be surprised how much better it would be for all of you.

OK, I apologize if I am misinterpreting your words and you are maybe just nervous about the experience...as for your question, it is not value season, I think regular season (We went in October last year, and in 2000, it is actually a great time to go, nice weather, pretty low crowds). The room size at the values are about 20 % smaller, not a huge difference (260 square feet for values, 315 Sq ft for mods). The bigger difference is amenities (mods have a fridge in the room, 2 sinks instead of one, and more options of things to do at the resort). So if your only concern is space in the room, I think you would be OK at the values.

The rooms we've stayed at in values have always contained double beds. DH is 6'2", and he's never been uncomfortable. We travel as a family of 4 (me, DH, DD8 and DS3) and haven't had any problems spreading out in our room.

You can check mousesavers to find the AP discount history for October. Right now, we're booked during this time frame using our AAA discount. Haven't heard of any other discounts yet, but I've been out of pocket lately.

Hope you have an enjoyable trip! We can't wait until our nephew is a little older so his parents are comfortable letting us drag him along to experience the magic. :goodvibes

We actually are looking forward to taking her. It was our idea to include her in one of our trips. The problem is her mother. We were planning on taking her on one or our yearly Jan. trips, but her mother is insisting we take her in Oct., not asking, telling. WE don't want to ruin it for DN so we are letting it slide. Jan., Oct., and then another Jan. trip is going to be tight for us financially, hence the value resort idea. I don't want to ask DH to give up his Jan. trips as he works many 11 hour days and dreaming about his off season trips gets him through the day. DN is 5'8" and a tad sloppy, so I wasn't sure about the size of values with a third person. Sorry to hear your vacations as a teen were uncomfortable. Here's wishing you many wonderful Disney trips to help make up for it.:goodvibes

My apologies again yooperfan...I did not know the circumstances...just wishing you all a wonderful vacation.

When DW and I stayed at POP we had a king bed but the room was big enough for 3. At CBR I want to say we had 2 queens but they could have been doubles. Needless to say they were more like oversized twins. We ended up sleeping in different beds as we are use to a king. That being said we are taking 2 nieces 9 and 12 in 9/07. We will get 2 rooms just to be safe. Disney guaranteed yes guaranteed connecting rooms. DW thinks we are staying at POP but we will be at WL. If you can swing 2 rooms financial it may be worth considering. We are getting 2 rooms since our lovely nieces think I snore. Me, well DW are on vacation and I want some one on one time without the kids so the extra room helps.

1: While the king bed at Pop may seem large enough for three people, Disney will not allow more than two people, or two people plus one child under three (presumed to be sleeping in an available pack & play) to rent a room with just one bed;
2: All Value and Moderate rooms with two beds contain two full (not queen) size beds - which may be why the beds in the above thread seemed more like oversized twin beds; and
3: While a confirmation may state something like "connecting rooms guaranteed", that is only to the degree possible. If there are no sets of connecting rooms available when you check in, well, even Guests with the apparent 'guarantee' can't be assigned to unavailable rooms.
For example:
- Let's say a resort has ten rooms.
- Six of those rooms connect to each other, aka three sets of connecting rooms
- There are five groups in line to check in; all five groups have been 'guaranteed' connecting rooms.
- Only four of those groups' guarantee can be accommodated.

Especially (but not exclusively, and certainly not ideally) if there are enough adults so that they can split up between/among the available rooms.

Have you asked her parent(s) to contribute to the trip? If you are financially strapped and you are worried about the Oct instead of Jan that her parents INSISTED on then they should expect to contribute.
That is assuming that you have told them the problem with the Oct vs Jan problem.
Hope for an AP rate as well- you may get a mod for a value-ish rate.

Good Luck!!!!!:wizard:
