I've heard some rumours about some type of worm or caterpiller type bugs in the rooms (found on walls, floor, and in the showers). They have apparently been found at POP, CBR and Coronado. Someone had said when they got home their luggage was infested with them! What are they? Why are they in the rooms? I'm getting worried as we leave this Saturday for CBR!! Does anyone out there know anything about these bugs/worms or whatever they are?

I read the post about the worms too. Sounds really gross! :crazy2:

I'm sure glad we've never encountered any of them during any of our trips!

OMG...that is so gross!! :crazy2:

I can only say we've been there 4 times in the past 4 years and have never had the problem. Stayed at: POR, Dolphin, OKW, BCV. I hadn't heard of the problem before....

We stayed at CBR last August. We had a first floor room. There were centipede/millipede type crawly guys in our bathroom/changing area every mornig. I called housekeeping, front desk etc., but nothing was done. They were slow moving types so I just flushed them each a.m. I have to say, due to this I would not choose CBR again. Also. the N. Beach area there had biting no-see-ums or sand flea type bugs. This is the first I have ever encountered these at any WDW resort. We have stayed at the Dolphin, CR, ASMU and CBR. Out of these resorts the only one we had any bug issues with was CBR. Our luggage came home bug free, but it did sort of give me the heebies while we were there. I have family in SWFlorida and have been visiting for over 30 years and I have never run into a bug issue. I know CBR is one of the oldest resorts, and very lush. As I said, slow moving bugs...never seemed interested in us, but one day there was one above me in the shower...THAT woke me up pretty quickly!
I also "removed" the critters each mornig before my kids woke up, eve tho they are nature nuts, I didn't want to take a chance of them not sleeping thinking thay had bugs crawling over them at night.

Don't tell me this...I'll be at CBR at the end of the week! And creepie crawlies freak me out!

Wow! People are really getting soft. We live in our air conditioned and exterminated palaces. It is a little bug. You are 8000x times bigger than it, if it bothers you smash it with your shoe and flush it. Don't run screaming and call security. It is florida, warm year round. There is no way to get rid of all the bugs.

I have stayed at CBR many many times and never encountered the bugs you are discussing.

It is Florida and the bugs are plentiful here.

This thread made me laugh:D Gross, yes, but at least Disney isn't charging for the "extra guests";)

I travel for business, and have had a problem with the little sugar ants in the bathroom a few times (yuck, yuck, yuck)! I just ask the front desk for bug spray, that takes care of the problem. I bet at Disney the CMs would be the same - no one at the front desk really wants it known that you have a bug problem so I'd imagine that if you asked politely they'd deal with it fairly quickly.

Thank You and as SafetyMom said it is Florida we have lots of bugs. We also have snakes, alligators, etc. It is after all a Tropcial climate.

Where do you live you don't have any bugs?

We also have hurricanes and humidity and sometimes lots of lightning.

Gee its a wonder anyone comes to visit, LOL.

We have these same little 1 inch to 1.5 inch long little crawlers in NC. They like to live under rocks, logs, etc. and especially anywhere there is extensive landscaping near a building. When it rains a lot, they like to come in the house. Usually they are worse in early Aug than any other time of year. Having them doesn't mean that you live in a dump, it just means they were able to get inside.

We have seen them in MD offices, on the running track at the YMCA, in the grocery store--all places you would never expect to see them. Is it creepy to be walking through your house at night and step on one? Yes, absolutely. Would I be upset if they were in my hotel room? Depends on how many there were. Just request a room on a higher floor or if you stay in a room that has a couple, just keep your suitcases off the floor.

I'd rather have these little critters that don't bite than the other outdoor pests we have in NC that like to come into the house--the wolf spiders!

But, I can see how folks who have never seen these little crawlers might be completely wigged out! Guess it's just what you are used to!

We have lots of bugs but not in the house! Big difference between having bugs outside and naturel squirmiing around your suitcase! LOL~!

You are very lucky then and I am sure in colder climates bugs are not as much a problem

But in Florida we do have bugs and yes they do like to come inside on anything that has been outside.

Homes are not as bad as a motel with direct outside doors and many people coming and going in the room and leaving the door open.

We just keep the Raid nearby and a big shoe. :)

I am from Wisconsin, yes we do have bugs here. And they are plentiful in the summer. And actually I am one of those people who choose to not "step on" those critters, I release them back outside. Although when I heard that the person who experienced this had brought an infested suitcase home, THAT'S what grossed me out.

I will take the advice of Cleokitty and be sure to keep my suitcase off the floor. And I was sure to request a 2nd floor room, I'm just hoping that request will be granted.

It gets plenty cold here in PA and we have bugs. This time of year is just awful because it's getting cold outside so all the spiders want to be inside...eeewwww. :earseek: I woke up with one crawling on my head just a few nights ago! :earseek:

This is what I was referring to as well. We have plenty of bugs up here in NH, and I've run into plenty at WDW as well. It's the thought of a bunch of them coming home with me in my suitcase that gives me the willies!

wow the thought of bugs coming home with you to relocate from all the alligators and hurricanes. . . .interesting. Maybe they'll like the dry climate here in Vegas.:upsidedow

We already have enough spiders...maybe I could take some to share with Florida? I certainly don't want any of theirs! :p

Where did you read this, can you provide a link to the discussion?
