So I'm planning a magical gathering for next fall! :woohoo: It'll just be us and my DH Mom and Dad! I'm trying to choose the perfect resort. This is their 2nd trip to Disney, their 1st trip was off property (& in 1990!) So I wanted to show them the right way to travel in Disney Style! But I'm having a hard time picking a resort to stay at. I've narrowed it down to 4, so I need everyones opinions! Please Help!! tell me your 2 cents and why!! LOve you all and TIA!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

P.S DIL, are in their mid 50's! Not that that really makes a difference in anything!!

I voted for Boardwalk. The Boardwalk offers its own entertainment, is an excellent location, is romantic to walk around at night, and the hotel is great, with nice rooms and excellent service. You should also be able to easily access Food&Wine at Epcot as well.

However, if you think they will experience even a smidge of sticker-shock, don't do it, or they will be stressed out about $$ the whole trip!

I voted for BC because of the pool since you'll be there in the fall it you would be able to use it. If you are going during F&W, it's the closest resort to it.

Hi, IF i had to choose between those 4 resorts i would choose The Beach Club!!!!!!!!:yay: This resort has something for everyone. Many quiet pools And the BIG pool; This pool has a lazy river, whirl pool, shipwreak slide, And a kiddie pool! This pool has sand at the bootom it makes you feel like your at the beach! The pool reqes a room card so if your not staying at the resort you can't use the pool! This resort is not only about the pool it has so many activties! my childern's fav's are the pool side entertanment and the ,ovie on the beach!!! The schedule is at the front desk. The service at the Beach Club Is awesome they truly make you feel like home!!!! This is a GREAT FAMILY RESORT!!!!:cool1: :hippie:   :cheer2: :yay: :

YC/BC. Why? BC -- probably the most convenient resort(s) to major attractions, and certainly harboring a unique charm many find relaxing. Assuming your DIL's aren't too old, they'll enjoy walking to Epcot, boating to DHS, and having the Boardwalk attractions so close by.

Of course, all bets are off if they're actually from the NorthEast coastal area -- YC/BC may seem too familiar for them to feel as though they're actually on vacation. If that's the case, then I recommend WL or the Poly.

I picked BW. I think it is charming and smaller then BC/YC. Things seem a little easier to find for those who have never been. I think no matter where you end up they will be wowed. They are all great resorts.

I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. It depends on everyone's taste and habits.
Personaly I would want to try AKL. But the Boardwalk is very convenient!

Either the Yacht Club....or Boardwalk.

YC because of full balconies.....and proximity to Epcot.

BW is actually my favorite of your choices.....it felt the most "upscale".....proximity to epcot and DHS. Walking distance to a load of restaurants.

I love coming home to the BW at night and seeing the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk....even with the hustle and bustle.....Y&BC always seems very busy(crazy) as well as SAB.
Only thing I miss there is a true CS option.

I personally would NOT choose BC because you are not guaranteed a full balcony.
Happy planning

I think AKl or yacht club would be good choices. My mom is about your inlaws age and thins AKL is awesome!! That would be her dream resort. I do think Yacht would also be a good choice since it's a bit more quiet than Beach and so close to Epcot and HS.

I am hoping to plan a Sept 09 trip for my DH, his brother and SIL, and their step-mom. Through weird family stuff, the step-mom will be 61, and all of us are late fifties, early 60s. I decided to book at AKL for the uniqueness of the resort. They have all stayed at very nice hotels, but AKL will be an experience no one has had.

I'm wondering if your inlaws are also from MA, if yes then I would pick AKL or WL for the change in Architecture and grounds. The other hotels on your list are based on New England arch and may look like knock-offs to them. But AKL or WL would be a fantastic change with more of a resort feel.

I would say the Beach Club because it's near Epcot and Hollywood Studios. However, I can see hoosl's point that AKL is so different from New England.
BTW, I went to Methuen for a wedding in 1995. I love this part of Massachusetts!

I chose AKL because if I ever convinced my parents to come to WDW with us I'd take them there. My mom and dad would need a nice quiet place to "go home to" and AKL is such a destination in and of itself. Beach Club Villas would be my second choice

My inlaws and parents are older than yours. For that reason, I picked SSR (I am so in the minority I know). I stayed there once with my parents and another time with my inlaws. Both times were great. I enjoyed being able to park right outside my door or having a bus stop nearby. I didn't want to be parking in a lot that could be a long ways from our room and I like having multiple bus stops so that again, its not a far walk to get to one. We also enjoyed the proximity to DTD and not having to share busses when we did take the bus (one trip we had a car, another we didn't, both times SSR's set up was perfect).

I love the Epcot resort area, but for my inlaws or parents, having to either take the slow boat to MGM and Epcot or walk wasn't that good for us. Not everyone wants to walk or boat (and the boats close too early past park closing in my opinion). So for us, it was better to have a bus option for each and every destination.

Again, I am in the minority but that is why SSR was perfect for us. Also, the units still very new, the main pool had zero entry (great for mil who doens't know how to swim so therefore can get panicky in water) and the counter service was perfect for my early rising fil, who liked going over to AR for a quick serve breakfast. Being a bit away from the action was again, good for our extended family gathering, even though I don't feel SSR isn't just as magical and Disney feeling. It was also nice to have the spa right there and we did use that.

They loved the grounds, and the nice wide walkways were perfect for their walking and fil's scooter. The spread out nature of the resort didnt' bother anyone, including my mom who was recovering from chemo that trip. It was wonderful to have a nice, quiet, relaxing place to go to each day. My mother loved getting up early and sitting out on the balcony looking at the fountain and ducks right below our window. Both my mom and mil loved the traditional decor of the unit.

Every time we stay there now just my family, we miss the grandparents and remember those great memories! I don't think you can make a bad choice, they are all wonderful resorts with lots to offer.
