I pulled the clothes out of the dryer and a pen came out with them!:headache:

I was probably the guilty party who left the pen in his pocket.:rolleyes1 Of course, it was a load of light colored clothes & a black pen.

But, although I'm going to google next, I figure Disboards may be able to help.

Among the "victims":
Jeans
Khaki Cargo shorts (multiple pair)
Tan collared shirt
DD's WHITE softball pants (no splotches, but noticeable marks)

Any ideas?

Old Navy might be havin' a 4th of July sale. :teeth:

Happened to us. I used cheap hairspray on our jeans and it worked ok. Didn't get it all out but got the worst of it.

Tossed our shirts - they were unsalvagable.

You could try the hairspray and then bleaching the white softball pants but be prepared to toss them and get new if it doesn't work.

Try lemon extract. Worked on a pair of pants I had that toner from laser printer got on them.

Hair spray! The cheaper the better. Soak the stain and dab with a kleenex/paper towel. It may not get the stain 100% out but will fade it quite nicely.

With the hairspray... just spray it on and back through the wash or try to scrub it out? Google suggests rubbing alcohol.

We've got shout on hand & hairspray (suave if that makes any difference).

CRAP!

We used to soak it pretty heavily with hairspray and wash it. It worked pretty well.

Rubbing alcohol. It is the alcohol in hair spray that makes it work but you can use straight alcohol.

used hairspray on the collared shirt & softball pants. sprayed EVERYTHING with Shout. Put Tide Stain Remover & laundry detergent in the wash and ran it on the 'Whitest White' setting. Got the majority of the stains out. The ones that were basically ink blots are still there (go figure), but I saved everything except one pair of jeans and one pair of shorts.

Thanks for the help everyone.

My Mom always used hairspray on pen ink. Way back when nurses still wore white.

rubbing alcohol, Gonzo stain remover, a toothbrush and a wash cloth. Scrub scrub scrub. It will take a few tries to get it out.

DH had brought me a yellow linen shirt back from a trip with a huge red wine stain on it, waitress dropped a tray on him. The shirt had sat in his luggage for almost a week before I got ahold of it. Anyway, it probably took me a week but I got the stain about 99% out. As the shirt has faded over the years the stain is a little more noticeable but he still wears it.

Glad you got most of the stains out!!

If you really have something you like to wear, buy a spare

Denatured alcohol does a really good job. I once saved a load that way. Murphy's oil soap may help, too, but it's more for markers and paint. (I also have a 5 year old, so I need a massive stain fixing arsenal!)

Go to the Dollar Tree and buy some stuff called "Totally Awesome", and spray it on each spot and scrub. Keep spraying and scrubbing until the stain is gone, then wash as normal. It may take a little while but it works. I got ink out of DH's shirt & some pants once with it. Plus it's CHEAP! I use it on all kinds of stains and so far it has not let me down. ;)
