Hi All,

I hope some one has some advice, Im starting to pull my hair out.

I have been planning this trip since april and was so excited about it. But in the last 2 months I have been so stressed by work and personel matters that I cant get my self motivated or excited about this trip.

I still have some planning left to do but it seems like such a core I keep putting it off. I was so excited about this trip but now I am almost dreading it.

Does any one have any words of encouragment or advice? It would be greatly appreciated.

Before each trip, I find myself a little burned out on the planning. Maybe you should take a break? What do you still need planned?

If you have reservations, tickets, and you can get there, everything else is really optional.

If you have the planning video, after a couple of days, try watching it again, and see if it gets you in the mood. Watch Pirates of the Caribbean, or something else that puts you in the Disney mood. Good luck. No matter what else happens, once you get there, all the stress of the last few minutes will evaporate, and you'll be good as new.

I usually read my guidebooks a little at night to get me in the mood. I start thinking about what rides we're going to do, restaurants we want to try etc. I start thinking about how much fun we had on our last trip & how so far Disney has never let us down. I try to tell myself that no matter how stressful life gets I have x amount of days to go till Disney ! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I know what u mean! :hyper: :hyper:

IT looks like you only have 16 days to go until your trip and it will be your son's first trip to WDW. :moped:

The best advice I can give u is to:

1. Write a list of EVERYTHING you think you have to do in your life,
from buying groceries to ordering a a new washing machine - whatever it is, write it all down.

REASON: :wizard: This way you will be able to focus on one thing at a time and all of that stress you have about all these things you have to get to will be channeled in one area- that sheet of paper. You can choose to look at that list once a day or once a week, but this way you are in control and that list is not in control of you.
You can put this list away somewhere and bring it out when you are able to face each task. It's also like imagining all of your troubles inside of a balloon and you watch the balloon fly away. :genie:

2. Remember - YOU CANNOT CONTROL WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU -
B U T --- YOU CAN CONTROL HOW YOU REACT TO IT! :wizard:
Try to remember this when you get frustrated. People get frustrated because they are overwhelmed. What can you do to lessen the load a little bit? Try writing the list.

3. It's your son's first trip to WDW - talk to him about it and I am sure his excitement alone will get you in the mood to go to Disney! :boat:

4. What DIDN"T you plan? Let us know and I am sure we can make recommendations for you and help you do some research - such as restaurants, pricing, rides, planning strategies, etc.

5. The last thing I can think of right now - is that YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE IMPORTANT - not work, not things, not schedules - these will be wonderful memories you will make to treasure for the rest of your life! How often do you get away on vacation and enjoy yourself? If you're like most of us, it's not that often - so GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK ! YOU DESERVE IT! and allow yourself time to DO NOTHING and RELAX.

6. I recently wrote a list of stuff I had to get done bec. i was stressed as well and it really helped to go thru it and cross stuff off as it got done. Some stuff isn't done but I don't care because not everything can get done! We all want to be PRODUCTIVE every minute, if we're not - we're "wasting time." We have to change our thinking!

7. Get back to us and let us know if u need help planning, etc.!!!

Take Care!!!

Sounds like you have a lot going on that has kind of taken over your brain.
It's so hard to get back into the excitement of the trip when your head has been so full of work and personal matters... it kind of sucks everything out of you.
Look at it this way...... take the things that have been bothering you and put them on a shelf. Tell your self that you can pull them down after the trip and deal with them but right now you have more important things to do. ENJOY YOURSELF AT WDW!!!
A year from now you will look back on this time in your life.
What do you want to remember?
That helps me sometimes with things..... I ask myself.... in a year will this matter to me? Will how I handle this situation make me look back on this and have regrets?

I hope you can get the excitement back. Good luck. I'll throw some pixy dust your way!!!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement !!!

I will try making the list, although once I write everything down Im afraid I may get even more overwhelmed.

So far... I have reservations for Disney/US lodging, Tickets for Disney and US/IOA, Money put away/budgeted for food etc.

We are driving from Va and I still need to get a motel for the trip down and back. I also need to plan what day at what park and what ride when (using the UG touring plans I think). Also I need to make a PS for the fantasmic dinner package. I hope I can still do this!! I still havent decided what night will be best. We are not planning any other special meals

Is there anything Im missing?

I cant believe its only 15 days away!! Now Im really getting worried!!.

I know things will be ok. I just need to get the emotional magic working again.

Thanks again for all the encouragement!!

It sounds like you're pretty well set. If you know where you're planning to stop for the night, it should be a simple matter to make reservations at your preferred hotel chain, or through your preferred discount travel site. And there's probably no rush on that. Any time before you leave should be fine.

Which day, which park? Well, you can leave off on that as well. I planned those things the first time, and found I was a whole lot more relaxed subsequent trips, when the plan was "if we're up in time we'll do the early entry park, otherwise, we'll see what we feel like". Of course, YMMV.

Fantasmic package I haven't done, so I'm hoping someone else can contribute how far in advance that has to be booked.

But you know, it doesn't look like there's all that much left to do. Worse case scenario, where you just can't plan another thing, you'll be on the road, and decide to stop where you see a vacancy sign. As Kim Possible would say, "It's no big". You'll go to whichever park you happen to feel like on that particular day. You may have to watch Fantasmic from the regular stands. But none of this will ruin your holiday. Don't let it ruin your pre-holiday.

You'll have a great time. Just don't forget to pack your bathing suits and toothbrushes! Actually, strike that! Even if you don't pack, you can buy what you need there.

I think what I was trying to say was, "hakuna matata".
