Help !!! I just got a call from DSVC saying that

After everything, how was your trip ?

  • It went great, no problems.

  • It had a few problems, but they were fixed nicely and quickly.

  • It had a few problems and it was not fixed to my satisfaction but was attempted.

  • It had problems and we did not get what was promised.

  • The change was a disaster and I am still upset.

  • Explain what happened.....

Normally, as soon as someone starts talking about compensation, I cringe. But in this situation, I strongly feel that DVC should do more.

They took those 10 measly Concierge Rooms from the Resorts Division and they sell them every chance they get! I would be ashamed to use concierge as an AKV selling point because there are so few of them, but that doesnt stop DVC marketing.

SSR is not Concierge. LOVE SSR! But not this trip! No Husband No Kids No ADR. Just girls de-stressing on our travel day.

After staying Concierge in Dec. I know that DDP and Concierge = too much food! Especially for adult only trips. We didnt sign up for the DDP on our Concierge night because we would have breakfast, snacks and alcohol covered!

I cant even rent those 3 points and buy all that for 2 people!

Im really gonna miss the wine and the Grand-Ma!

I feel like a Concierge refugee!:rotfl:

I agree but it's because we're not really talking compensation but replacement.
 
Another point, unless I missed it in all the posts, the Dining Line is closed for ADR's right now. How can you make a ADR? This is so unfair. DVCers all plan, then we plan, then we plan some more. When we stayed concierge, I only had a few ADR's because of concierge. It is way to much food, now for all of you to not have Concierge at this late date, what are you suppose to do for a reservation?

I think with the new reservation system, MS needs to ask you what dates you want for your next Concierge stay and book that for you. I would sure ask for it, if I were you.
 
was able to call MS today and scramble to find dates and times for places I want to eat. Wasn't able to get them, there were few times left on the dates I was trying for and wiht ahving no plans on going into the parks, I had to find park meals so I would be forced to take multiple buses to resorts for meals.

I just sent of a letter requesting a comparable room to what I reserved and nothing more. I'm almost fine with the moving but not with what they consider comparable. If I wanted to spend less points, I would have booked SV for the entire stay or value.

Now I ahve even more points to try to get rid of at the end of my use year. I was worried about what I could do with 37 points if I get stuck at SSR then I get another 18 to add to the mix.
 

Ugh, this entire thread has me sick to my stomach. We have a 1br AKV concierge booked for 10/4-11 and have received NO notification of this change. This is a suprise trip for our kids so they have no idea but I've been planning this for months and months. As this would probably be our only time doing concierge this is very upsetting. I've spent a lot of time working with IPO on creative ideas to suprise the kids with little gifts in the room etc.

Guess I'll be on the phone to MS when they open tomorrow. I don't know whether to cry or scream :sad2: .


ETA: checked disneyworld.com and orbitz.com and both are showing regular rooms at YC, BC, and BWI for our dates. Orbitz had others listed too.
 
I would be livid, furious etc!!!! What you have all been offered is totally unacceptable. I would be on line checking availabilty at non-DVC resorts including suites for those who have one and two bedrooms villas reserved. I would be checking on line for concierge level rooms at Poly, BC/YC and BW. If any of those rooms are available online, I would be calling and demanding that change plus a room credit/free dining! If there wasn't anything available, I would switch to SSR but demand all of my points be returned with the ability to bank and would would continue to ask t speak to a supervisor until they said yes. I would put in writing all the plans that you all have made since the booking at 11 month and outline the extra cost to you as a result of not having that concierge service. We stayed AKV concierge this summer and ate breakfast and dinner in the club. We only bought a nice lunch that kept us full through dinner. Even with the DDP, you have to pay tip. No, this is sooo wrong. I could see if this was an emergency repair but this appears to be something that could be planned in advance. THey should have at least given more than 2 months notice before everything is all booked up. While I am not affected personally, DVC continues to disappoint me with their policies, actions and CS. (Which is why we did not add on after the new booking policy started.) I think they are outgrowing themselves!

We DVC people take our vacations VERY Seriously!! I know exactly how you feel and I didnt have kids to plan for this time.

There was a thread not too long ago about the poor Customer Service received at AKV. I think this is 1 more blaring example of how the resort views DVC and its members. We are not even on their radar. They probably can't wait for Kidani to be finished so they can put us all out back! Obviously after DVC took their leavings, they had no more use for us.

I have yet to put AKV in my signature as a home resort, because I have not felt really welcomed home yet. Our Christmas trip there started off really bad as I had a visceral reaction to the room and the lack of tub in my Concierge 1 bed. I literally called MS in tears and there was nothing they could do.

I originally booked Oct 3-7 in a Concierge Studio, but after much consideration, I cancelled all but the first night a few months back and took BCV while it was still available. I am still gunshy and MS could not believe i was giving up Concierge and commented how lucky someone on the waitlist would be.:scared:

Now this. Im only affected for 1 night and we will have a car. But more and more crosses my mind on how negatively this will impact the vacations of others.

The Sunrise Safari has you reporting to the lounge an hour before sunrise for checkin. Now those displaced will have to take a taxi to AKL an hour before that!

There's not a decent ADR to be had at this late date and like pyrxtc, for those that planned to stay out of the parks, their dining is really looking pitiful.

I used my 11 month window to book that ressie. I paid AKV dues for those points. How can they take away your home resort advantage so easily? If anything, they should have booted out the 7 month bookers first! (Sorry 7 month bookers, but everyone should retain their home resort advantage in an emergency)

When I spoke to MS earlier, they tried to be really firm in telling me SSR was all that was available. Everything else was a "no promises but we will see what we can do" type attitude. :confused3 They claim they just found out about it, but I recall last week a Military family being affected by this, because I responded to that thread.

I just think this whole mess is bad for business:teacher:
 
I just feel so sorry for everyone affected by this. You all worked hard to get that reservation in the first place and then to be moved on short notice to a different resort with no equivalent amenities is just not right.

I can't imagine what kind of work they will be doing that will put those rooms out of service for a whole month. If major work was needed, why wasn't it done during the conversion? I wish I had plans to be in WDW during October because I would love to go snooping around AKL/AKV to try to get a look at whatever is going on up on the 6th floor.
 
Well I just looked for OP dates and WL club level was available. They could if they wanted to they are just trying to fill SSR before they go outside the system.

For those that do end up taking SSR any points recieved you should have the option to bank and don't forget daily housekeeping.

So sorry DVC management are such a poor planners.

The dining line is not closed for October dates. It is closed for dates after January something.
 
I would be so heartbroken if this was my trip. Everyone books this day by day at 11months !!! I also think its an insult to have only 12 rooms and market as having access to concierge .

I really hope they do right by you guys, they were wrong, no doubt!!

I couldn't find it for my dates? I was on yesterday and just now and the only thing coming up is an All-Star resort family suite.
 
I just got off the phone with MS, they confirmed my ressie as is which is 1br AKV concierge 10/4-11. I asked about a closure due to outside maintenance and she didn't know anything about it. She put me on hold for a while and came back to say they didn't show anything and if there was an impact on my ressie I would receive a phone call.

I'm not totally reassured though. What do you guys think? Has anyone confirmed if it is the entire floor or just one side?
 
I was told the rooms on the 6th floor would be closed.
 
If this happened to me, I would just show up like I was never informed of the change and flip out! They are much more inclined to give you things in person than over the phone.

The worst thing that happens is you end up with the same thing you have now anyway so it might be worth a shot. ;)

we have a lowly value studio, not familiar w/resort layout...hope we won't be tripping over construction workers in the hallways:confused: going to & fro or subjected to ridiculous noise levels while on balcony (if we get one;) )popcorn::
 
We are there the 19th to the 25th of October in a 2BR CL. We did not get a call either.

It seems as though for that week, 3 of us have 2BR's. I am wondering if they expect one side to be completed by then, so they left our reservations alone?? Aren't there 3 2BR equivalent savannah view and 2 pool view??

Just a thought. Good lord. If they move us, I will snap. I have 8 people and made all my plans surrounding the lodge.

What happens if someone planned for 9 people in the room? Don't the 2BR villas there allow 9? Then what? Do they get a 2BR AND a studio at SSR, since room capacity over there is only 8?

I also received the call.

Well I was able to work our reservations out to a satisfactory level this morning. We are being placed at BCV studio for our 1 night and will have Concierge Level Access. Our reservation will be linked to our existing BCV reservation so we will not have to change rooms.

I didnt ask for anything else such as housekeeping for that day or the USA Today, because they would probably forget anyway and then I would just be mad on vacation, so I didnt even go there. They can even keep those 3 points. I cant use them in this UY or the next. My plans are solid for the next year.

I think it will be trying enough to explain to the checkin clerk that it should be noted on my ressie that we have Concierge for 1 day. Im glad we are checking in during MS hours.

So I am no longer a Concierge Refugee. I have a home and we will enjoy our wine and Grand-Ma and still be able to relax on our first day.:goodvibes

I already have AKV Concierge booked for next June, hopefully everything will be fixed by then and we can give AKV another try.:wizard:

I called too for mine (10/19-10/25). They confirmed it and never mentioned anything. Then I asked about the work. She checked. She told me the people handling the moving calls are not there today, but will be tomorrow and to please call back then and someone could speak to me.

So I will be on the phone again tomorrow and will report back. I may find out about the situation for 9. I called my mom before I called DVC and she said my sister is going to be able to join us. So we will have 9.

I am not happy about this at all. I love SSR, even OKW would be great. I will miss the concierge lounge, of course, but if they give me back the difference in points and make them bankable, I am good with that. I do resent the short notice AND the fact that I had to find out on here and call MS myself. When did they plan to tell me?
