Help! I can't stand 10 days of fast food!

I can sympathize. Had the same problem last year for a 10 day trip. After the first two days of mainly disgusting fast food we made a lot more PS for ressie's than ever before.

Out of all the parks, the two worst for me are MK and MGM where it seems that no matter where you look you can find a fast food counter. We learned last trip to make ressie's for a buffet at lunch (cheaper than at dinner). But like the post above mine, MK has Columbia Harbor House and Pecos Bills; Epcot has a lot more choices almost at any rest, AK has Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ; MGM well LOL as I have yet to find someplace I like to eat at (although I did have a nice meal at Mama Melroses but that was years ago). Do check out wdwig.com as she does list all the rest. choices/menus. It is extremely helpful.

I was very pleased with the offerings at the CBR food court this past May. I didn't eat too many of the "fast food" options but found some tasty "wraps," salads, fruit bowls, etc in their "grab-n-go" section. They were also very handy to take back to the room instead of eating in the food court.

The menus at wdwig.com are also a godsend for meal planning and budgeting.

Some I did not see mentioned:

MK has a fruit stand/area in Toontown

Epcot - Tangerine Cafe has a good healthy menu selection in Morocco

We always rent a fridge/stay at a home away from home and grocery shop to have fresh food at least for breakfast

Thanks

Another poster told me you can get take out from Whispering Caynons (WL). Thinking abt doing that a couple of nights. We can then "cheat" and get child's meals (sshhh!!) They have a couple of nice options on the menu. Can always add an appetizer or dessert if we're still hungry.

Don't know where you're staying, but maybe that would be an option for you. I'm sure other resort resturants will do take out too.

Just letting you know the childs meals are SMALL... very child sized.

If you have a healthy appetite, you may do better with an adult portion and splitting it.

Aslo.. Tangieire was incredible, one of my most favorite meals there.

Cosmic Rays, the Chicken Ceasar Salad and soup was amazing
ABC Commisary did have different offerings.. we had the tabouleh wrap, but they also had a beans/rice combo as well

electric umbrella had a soup/salad combo, also wonderful fruit cups.

Commissary at MGM-they has a nice Vegetable Chow mein with noodles that is pretty tasty, I was surprised.;) I also like Casey's Hot dogs at MK, they have GREAT Hotdogs! Don't eat at Rosie's at MGM they have LOUSY Hamburgers--YUCK! Try Mama Melrose, as they have great tasting individual Pizza's...yum!;) Have ALL your meals planned out, so you know WHAT to expect, and have fun....I WISH I could go for 10 days.:( :o

I've read on here that some guests double line their waste basket, add ice and use as a substitute fridge. Put some newspapers on top. They insulate really well. That would work for your yogurt. milk, juice etc.:D

In March, we ate at a little stand in AK. I can't remember the name, but it was near the bus (the trail is behind the bus) past the bird show on the way to Asia. (Next to the McDonald's french fry stand.) We had a yummy dumpling soup and some sort of noodle dish (all Asian flavor). It was a walkup stand that had lots of very different dishes. Maybe someone can remember the name of the stand.

Flower, tell me more about the cooler. Do you drive or fly to WDW? If you fly, do you check it or carry on?

That sounds like a GREAT IDEA!;) I never though of that! Thanks, (from one Faith to another).;)

I'm a little relieved to find out that ours is not the only family to get tired of eating out after a few days - I always secretly thought we might be collectively nuts! Perhaps it's because we eat relatively plainly on a daily basis, but the surfeit of choices gets to all of us - including DM (me) who is usually the cook at home.

One of the most memorable meals of our last WDW vacation was on a non-park day, when we ended up at the Super Walmart, and purchased a small ready-made veggies and dip tray, a cooked chicken, some pasta salad and a cut-up fruit tray, some paper plates and plastic utensils... this felt like a feast and at the same time, a relief from restaurant food (we ate in our room on our return to our resort).

In December, we will do this at least once, again.

I agree - I can't eat hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries every day.

We like the Sunshine Food Fair at the Land. Lots of choices. Pastas, salads, potatos.

At Animal Kingdom - we like Flame Tree Barbeque.

At MK - I can't remember the name but at the end of Main street across from Caseys there's an eatery with sandwiches, salads and stuff.

Beaches & Cream at the BC (where we stay). they have a great Casesar salad, turkey sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich and it's delicious.

We use to go to Aunt Polly's Landing for cold chicken or PBJ sandwiches but I think it's closed now - it was when we were there in May.
