I have been trying to get a res for lunch or dinner @ Ohana for months now, nothing has opened and we leave this weekend. Godd thing is, is that we will be there for a wk.
Any suggestions? what's the chance of something being aval. when we arrive?

I would suggest going to the Concierge desk after you check in and see if there is availability then. Maybe having a later ADR would get you in?

To be honest your chance isn't very good, but always try. You never know what will open up. Just don't set your heart on it.

The best thing you can do is talk with guest relations at your resort, see if they can find you a ressie. If not and you want to try walk up I suggest being there right at open and be prepared to wait 2-3 hours IF they are taking walk ups.

That is about all you can do other than watch the cancellation threads, see if something opens and continue to watch online.

Good luck and have a good trip!

The reason you can't find anything for lunch is because they're not open for lunch, just breakfast and dinner.

The best thing you can do is to keep looking. Check online every time you check email or get on the web.

Trying to do a walk up at 'Ohana might be insane, but if you're willing to trek over there to try, I think your best bet is to go right when they open for dinner at 5. I would try to get there at 4:45.

No way to tell what the chances are, but cancellations happen all the time - it's just a matter of you trying to make you ADR right after someone cancels.

Good Luck!

'Ohana isn't open for lunch, only breakfast (character) and dinner. You can try when you get there with the concierge for any night of your trip, or just walk up to the podium and give it a shot. It is possible they will seat you, but you may have to wait an hour or more.

Just keep on trying (like 10 times a day +) and keep an eye on the cancellation boards. I actually snagged one a few weeks ago just when searching but after a few days decided against it because of how expensive it is with Holiday pricing on top of that and cancelled - so things are constantly in flux.

I would suggest also trying for Kona. It is a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. There is some menu overlap (I believe the wings are available as an appetizer) and the last couple of times we have eaten there there has been a Hawaiian performer singing in the lobby that was actually more enjoyable than the one that was in Ohana the last time we were there.

'Ohana does not serve lunch.

Keep checking with your resort concierge (if you are at a Disney resort.) Or show up there at about 5 PM and see if they will let you in when they open.

If you're going to try this, show up by 4:30 at the VERY latest. By 4:45, the line will be down past Kona. You're actually better off showing up by 4:20 if you want to get in without an ADR and even then there's no guarantees.

You might want to consider that no one ADR will make or break your trip. At this point, the anticipation of this meal because of how long you've been trying to get it will make it very difficult to actually live up to what it's built up to be in your mind. It's a concept known as anticipointment (the anticipation sets the expectations so high that you can't help but end up with disappointment). I would advise you to let it go and focus on the vacation you have. It'll be something new to do next time you go to WDW (and an excuse to go back :thumbsup2).

LOL - I thought that was Brian Noble's magic word! :lmao:

But I do agree - overall food is food at Disney - some a little better, some a little worse, and that's about it. It's not really worth looking at it like a "do or die" reservation anywhere! We don't stress over the dining - we pick some places, usually we get what we want, and if we don't, we pick somewhere else. (Aside from the fact that I don't even like 'Ohana dinner at all and it does get pretty mixed reviews - love it or hate it type thing.)

Thanks ~ I wasnt able to get it last year and so Im not gonna fret over it this year either, oh well. What I was wanting to do is to replace Chef Mickey with Ohana. Were eating at Kona already.
I'll keep trying

...

The Disney dining reservations site says that 'Ohana starts dinner at 4:30.

I actually believe it varies by time of year. I should have said to make sure to show up AT LEAST half an hour before opening. I should have been much clearer so thank you for pointing that out. :thumbsup2 Whenever we've gone, the first available ADR has been 5:00, including for my upcoming trip. In December, when OP is going, you're right that it is listed as having a 4:30 opening.

As others have said, I would keep trying because you never know if something will open up ;). About a month or so ago I cancelled CRT for the night of 12/17 and wanted to replace it with 1900 Park Fare, but wasn't having any luck. I checked every day about every hour and got discouraged because there was no availability at 1900 PF for our entire trip :sad2:. Then one day I pulled it up expecting to see no change and I was able to get a 4:45 slot on Friday, 12/17....right before the party :santa: So don't give up......your chances may be slim, but keep checking because you may just hit it at the right time :thumbsup2.
