I used to be so good about working out. I am still watching what I eat (healthy lifestyle as opposed to a diet), but ugh this exercise thing is killing me. I used to to do TaeBo before I went to work in the morning, and then a walk after dinner each evening. Now I walk sporadically and don't do the TaeBo at all. I have a weight bench, and I haven't been using that either. I always feel so much better when I work out regularly, but I just can't seem to get started. Any ideas to get me motivated? I'm not really gaining any weight but I there are couple inches I could do without.

Miss Jasmine-I am right there with you. I have tried now for almost a month to get on a good routine. If I am going to get my exercise in, I have to get it done first thing in the morning (by 7:00am). I will start the week out doing great (Monday & Tuesday), then I get out of the routine and I just can't make myself do it. I still have about 15 pounds that I would really love to get rid of. I know we have to be the ones to make ourselves do it, but I do understand your situation and know that you are not alone. Blessings to you and hopefully we can both use this as an incentive to get back to our workouts.

I am just as bad...I have no incentive at all do exercise...I want to tone up the flab, but just no urge too...Will do some water stuff once school starts again next week.

I've been struggling with the working out thing too. Glad to see I am in good company!
What helps me is if I have someone to go with, whether it is to walk or go to Curves. Having a partner adds that little extra motivation.

Good luck ladies!

At least I'm not the only one. :D That right there helps a lot. Maybe if I sat down and made a plan (ok so that's not really doing it, but that's at least thinking about doing it). :teeth: Sigh, I think I am hopeless right now. :p

Count me in on the lack of motivation. I did so well early this week. Hour yoga plus the exercise ball. Eating very healthy. Got on the scale and actually gained 4 lbs! I'm at my heaviest post pregnancy weight ever! In my funk, I took my DD out to dinner last night. She got all A's on her report card, so her special treat is to pick a thing she'd like to do for a night. (Please let it be a board game!) HOOTER'S! She wants Hooter's. I ate 7 wings, plus a beer, plus jalapeno chili cheese fries (which, I'm glad to report, were a be sure to miss). Then it was off to the Frozen Custard shop! I'm so upset! DH Says its hormones, water weight, whatever works here! Maybe he's right. We'll see. Mean time, I'm going to send the kids off and try to do some yoga. That is if I don't take a nap first! Thanks for listening to a vent. Will report back when my frame of mind has improved.

Tracy, don't beat yourself up over it. You did it and I'm sure enjoyed some of it, now move on. Your DD deserved to be rewarded and I'm sure she enjoyed just being with you so you had to be there. :)

Drinks LOTS of water today and remember today is a new day.

Good luck!

This might sound silly, but it works for me. I try on the clothes I want to wear that used to fit, but are too snug now.

It's getting warmer here every day and I know soon it will be too humid to wear long pants during the day. All my shorts are too tight! It really does motivate me to exercise when I try on clothes that I will NEED to wear soon that don't fit.

Even though I haven't lost my first five pounds (yet), I can already feel a big difference in my thighs. There is less fat in the "saddlebag" area and my hamstrings are really tightening up. That is great motivation for me! :)

Hang in there and don't beat yourself up for what you aren't doing. Just do the best you can and add a little bit more here and there. Try a new exercise tape or a new routine. Try doing squats every other morning (10 or 15 at first, then as time goes by, do two sets then three sets every other day). Just use your body's resistance and don't use weights. It won't take any time at all and you'll feel it in your thighs and buns.

Every little bit counts. So even if you don't get a full 30-45 minutes of exercise at one time, you can still manage that much in a day by taking the stairs more often or walking a little extra from here to there. :)

Soon you'll be back in the groove and this will be a distant memory. :)
