Help! How do you transfer into NEXT year?

Hi everyone,

I'd like to be able to transfer some points into my 2006 UY (can't transfer into this UY because I already did a small transfer out )

I had a lengthy discussion with someone at MS a couple of weeks ago who said, atleast at that time, that that would not be a problem, they could be transferred and then banked). I spoke with someone else from MS soon thereafter who said basically the same thing, but said they might not need to be banked.

Well, today I spoke with someone else from MS who said something seemingly completely different... that the points being transferred must also be from next UY(2006) unless both accounts had the same UY month (e.g. March)

So now I'm confused and a little bit afraid to call MS. Do they just make things up? Why does it seem that everytime you call you get a different answer when it comes to transferring?

Someone please help!!!

I don't think that you can bank transferred points but don't quote me on that.

I'm a little confused....okay, I'm really a LOT confused!!! Are you trying to use the points in your 2005 uy, or your 2006 uy? I just can't figure it out with the talk of "banking" (why would you want to bank if they are already going into your 2006 uy?).

I am not sure they can do that yet, because anytime you "manipulate" those points....you are, in essence "borrowing" them. Many of us are still in our 2004 UY...so unless you have a Jan-Mar-April UY...you can't even "borrow" those points yet. The only UY's that would be using 2006 points for any ressies that you can book right now are Jan-Mar-April....they are the ONLY people who could possibly transfer 2006 points to you, because they are the only ones who have access to their points.

If you are dealing with someone who has Jan-Mar-April UY, I think the following would apply:

If you are trying to get them into your 2006 UY....just transfer them. But, because "banked" points cannot be transferred, you will have to have someone transfer you their 2006 points.

If you are trying to get points into 2005's account....yes, you can transfer points into your 2006 UY, and then borrow them into your 2005 UY (transferred points can be banked or borrowed, but borrowed/banked points cannot be transferred).

I could be wrong on this information....this is just the way my "brain" wrapped around this problem. Basically, things like this just make me really glad I don't work in MS!!!

What MS told me in this area is somewhat ambiguous. You definitely should be able to transfer from 05 to 06 (the person you are getting points from should not have to use 06 points) but from what I was told MS has some latitude as to whether these will be marked banked or not. I was told it depends upon the use year months AND when the recipient plans on making a reservation.

Hope this doesn't confuse things more, but you should be able to transfer 05 points to 06, from what I understand. I'm not clear on whether you will have to bank them though.

I have transferred points from my 04 to another members 05 use year. Membership Services had to do it manually so it was an overnight process.
