Help! How do you be the family that opens the park?

This has been asked before, but I still love telling our story. We were there for an early princess breakfast at MK. We went to the left side also, because there was some benches to sit on and wait. A CM came out and talked to us and asked us to be the official family to open mk that day. Our kids were 10 and 8 I think. It was totally unexpected and spontaneous. To me those moments are truely magical. Would I try this If I had young kids now, maybe if I knew of it. Let the magic happen. If it was meant to be that's awesome. But don't let it run your schedule. It can lead to some let downs. I always wanted to sit at O'hana's and see the nighttime fireworks. We waited over an hour for a window seat and that's what we got. The farthest window seat from the front. We couldn't even see the fireworks going off we were so far back. If you want it that bad, by all means try to do it. Just don't get expectations too high for yourself or your young ones. Sorry If i'm sounding like a downer here. Good luck!!

Is it true that they usually pick families of 4, with the children old enough to not be in strollers? I am taking DS7 (just me & him!) for his Bday in August, so I was wondering if they ever pick a "family" of 2?
Then we go back in November, with DH and my other DS, who is 2, and will be in a stroller.

They picked us at AK two years ago and yes are a family of four!!

At the time it was myself, DW, DS13 and DS6. So that fits you theory!!

We are a family of 6 and this would be SO cool be that family, would we get "looked over" because of our large family size?

My family was fortunate enough to make friends with one of the main opening family pickers....so we have opened the MK 4 times over the past 5 years..

just like in "real life" it's a matter of who you know
