Help! Gotta get outa town for Thanksgiving!

Not sure where to go. Can't swing Disney. Need some place no more than 400- 500 miles from Washington DC that will appeal to 7 & 9 yr old boys. Dh can't stand crowds so New York City is probably out. Any suggestions?

How 'bout renting a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains & taking the boys to Cherokee, NC? There are a lot of things to do in Gatlinburg, TN and Dollywood is nearby as well (not sure if it's open in the winter, though)

Dollywood was open the day after Thanksgiving. At least it has been in years past. Not all the rides are going but it is a holiday in the Smokies. The shows are great and my kids were entertained. Also there is a holiday craft fair in Gatlinburg.
