We have had an early winter storm here, and are out of school today and will most likely be out tomorrow, too. This means we will be making these days we're missing up next week---when DH and I had planned to go to Chicago. I know I can cancel the air and hotel and not be penalized, but we had bought tickets to Wicked. I didn't buy the insurance, but I'm wondering if I can sell the tickets? I bought them online, they emailed them to me, so how would that work?

Thanks for any info~

You could try Stub Hub. My friend has bought concert and sporting event tickets through them.

You can try to sell them on StubHub but you will have to send them to Stubhub's Last Minute Center. Ticketmaster may also have a way for you to sell your tickets.

There is a Chicago community on here. Put a post up and see if anyone wants to buy them.

When are they for? And how much are you selling them for?

You have to make the days up on your Christmas break??? That stinks! We are also off for a snow day (southern Indiana) but ours will get tacked on the end of the school year.

I've never heard of a school making up days over Christmas break - that stinks!

Honestly, I think I would still go on your trip.

Yes, next Monday and Tuesday(the 20-21st) are make up days on our calendar. That was the only way we could get those days off. When I scheduled our trip I got the days mixed up and thought I had scheduled it past our makeup days, but I didn't. Still, we thought we'd be okay, as we usually don't get this much snow so early. I am a teacher, and dh is a principal, so no, we can't just take the days off(as much as we'd like to--it's our 15th anniversary--but I don't have the days to take and it would be frowned on for dh to). I try to look at it in a positive way in that at least we aren't out the plane tickets and hotel, too, and maybe I can salvage something from the tickets. I paid $220 for 2 tickets for December 21st--they are good seats.

I will try and find that Chicago community--thanks!

If the performance is sold out, sometimes the box office will take back the seats. I know they do that with Wicked in NYC.

You can sell your tickets through stubhub and as they emailed you the tickets originally they are probably in a pdf file - so you can sell them and state that the tickets are downloadable - which is more desireable for a lot of people as the can get them right away. I believe you said they are for next week - so you will have a lot of time to sell them.

Also, check the website to see the going price for those tickets (location, date, etc..) and price accordingly - usually you can price them competitively although they do take a percentage to sell them via the website, so price accordingly to what you want to get back. Good luck, it's a great show - so maybe you can sell them and repurchase for another time as Wicked is a great show!

Good Luck :)

Wow what school district are you in that will make you make up the days next week?? Our district has a couple of days figured into the schedule later in the year to make up and then they add on at the end of the school year??

As for the tickets, you can try stubhub or there are other ticket selling options.

The fact that you and DH work there makes a difference. I assumed you were only talking about your kids in school. I retract my previous statement about going anyways.;)

OH NO!!! We are Wicked groupies, and to miss a performance would be like cancelling a Disney Cruise!!! We were planning to go to Chicago to see it, but decided against it because of the time of year. We're doing Costa Mesa, CA instead this spring, and then NYC this summer.

Happy Anniversary! Wicked was a great choice to celebrate. You'll just have to see it in Orlando this spring!

PS---we are both teachers, and we miss having snow days from back east, but we don't miss having to make them up!

Wish I had a good answer for your dilemma. I served on the calendar committee for our school district and we had 13 snow days last year. This year we built days in all over the place to make up for potential snow days. One of ours was December 23rd. EEK! I'd better find out if we need to make that up.

I know Florida isn't the same, but occasionally school can be closed because of a hurricane. If there's like less than five days canceled then the days don't have to be made up. If there's only been a couple days missed so far, I don't see the hurry in making those days up so soon.

You're other option is to hop on a plane after school lets out, and hope you can make it to Chicago in time. Come on, nothing like taking a limo straight from the airport.

We were listening to the same show, LOL!

OT~ I hope that he doesn't leave for MN. He's the last one there that I will listen to. I still miss Kathy and Judy and Spike. I wasn't a fan of Steve Cochran but I can't stand listening to Mike McConnell. He just gets under my skin. He always sounds so arrogant. Garry Meier is growing on me after a year or so. ;)
