Ugh. I don't know WHAT she did to get this huge mass of matted hair but DD7 has a huge mess of tangles in the back of her hair. We have tried conditioner, detangler spray and hot oil treatment and cant get this mess out.

Any more ideas on what we can try???

Thanks!

Have you tried putting a ton of conditoner in her hair and comb it out in the bath?

Leave in the conditioner & comb. It will come out.

what works for me is Aussie Knot Forgotton (works great i have lower back lenght hair and get really bad knots and that stuff works maricles on my hair) then when you start to brush the knot out use your fingers first to start to untangle it and take your time. just keep working at it and then start to comb it slowly. thats the most important thing take your time. :)

When DD used to get those really monster tangles, I'd spray lots of detangler, then SLOWLY work my way down with a very large tooth comb. It could take a long time to get all of it out.

Good luck!

when I went to school to do hair we always started at the bottom then worked our way up, other wise you are pushing all the tangles together and it is alot harder to get out
next some detangler sprays make it worse
the hair should be dry cause when it is wet it gets the matted affect

hope this helps my daughter has thick long hair and it knots real bad we try to braid/pigtail it before bed when she was younger it made the mornings easier

My mom still complains about how tangled my hair used to get. I actually still have tangle problems when I'm sick and have to lie in bed. If it's really bad I use a very thick conditioner called terax and I leave it in for ten minutes. Then I comb out my hair with the conditioner still in it.

That has happened to my DD, and it next to impossible to get them out. I have done all of the things other folks have mentioned, and you as well. One was so bad one time, that I cut it out. It was underneath near the bottom hairline and I just snipped away - she has fine hair, but lots of it....

Wide tooth comb, detangler and lots of perseverence!

Good luck.... my DD is getting better about brushing her hair multiple times during the day, and right before bed, and this seems to be helping!

When my niece was little her hair was very bad to tangle no matter how much or how often we brushed it. When it was very bad I would put a ton of conditioner in it then work my way up from the bottom until all the tangles were gone. Sometimes it would take a couple of hours.

Good luck to you!

With my DD, I put tons of detangling conditioner on in the tub, then start to comb from the bottom up - small amounts at a time. She's much better now, but when she was younger and wouldn't comb her hair before bed, we'd have to work at it 1/4 inch at a time. It takes forever, but they will come out.
