Help! I know there are lots of cruisers here, anyone know the answer to my question? Can I check the luggage through and take the car instead of bus?

Your problem is going to come in to play with TSA, not DCL. TSA randomly selects passengers from the cruise ship that are required to check their own bags at the airport. DCL has no control over who these passengers are, as it is part of TSA, not DCL. If you had everything set to go and were selected, you would HAVE TO be on the bus. Additionally, unless your entire party has only 2 bags, the number of bags would be too many for the amount allotted per person (2).

It is not designed to be a luggage transport service, but a convenient way to get you and your luggage to the airport. Therefore, the system will not work if you are not on the bus, as you are planning to do.

This has come up before, and unfortunately they will not take your bags unless you are traveling on the Disney transport as well.

They already said 4 bags with me would be just fine so I'm not worried about all 4 going with me. They didn't even mention to my inlaws when they checked in about any problem with using the service if they weren't on the bus transporation. The person who checked me in is the one who brought it up.

You'd think when I was at Kidani and explained why I was having all the luggage transported by Disney (for $25) and not taking in the care with us myself, someone would have said there was a problem with that approach for returning from the port to the airport! They brought the bags here just fine.
