Help from all the ladies out there

I think simba20 hit the nail on the head with the comment about thinking about what a baby really "needs". The stores will have you think you need all these gadgets, gizmos, and equipment and in all reality you don't need half of it. For example....we had a pack-n-play, used it like twice.....my daughter slept in her crib maybe a handful of times (I would have done that differently had I only known then what I know now....but I was working full-time and nursing and the only way I got sleep was to nurse her in bed and so she ended up sleeping with us), and there were others. So if you want children I also would advise against waiting until you are "ready" because I don't know if you ever feel 100% ready.

Don't let little unimportant things stop you. I married DH when we were 20. I got pregnant 10 months after we were married and she was the best thing that ever happened to us. We had no money DH was in the military and we has very little extra, but that was OK. we made due, she is now 18 and we are about to celelbrate our 20 anniversary. We look back on those times and laugh and think about how those were the best times. Since we had her we both completed college and my dh got his masters. Since then we had another daughter who is 4. Big differnece between having a baby at 22 and having one at 36 :scared1: .... do not wait... its gets harder as you get older..

How about buying your first home AND having your first child in this economy? That's me! We were already looking for a house, the baby was just an added surprise. ;) It is a little scary, but for now our government jobs appear to be safe (until the news changes again tomorrow - LOL). I agree with everyone, there is no "right" time. If I had waited until I had the ideal situation, I probably never would have had any. As it is, it's kind of last minute...I'm 39 years old after all! But I'm so excited about the baby, so this has turned out to be a nice surprise. :lovestruc

Do what feels right & good luck to you!
