I think simba20 hit the nail on the head with the comment about thinking about what a baby really "needs". The stores will have you think you need all these gadgets, gizmos, and equipment and in all reality you don't need half of it. For example....we had a pack-n-play, used it like twice.....my daughter slept in her crib maybe a handful of times (I would have done that differently had I only known then what I know now....but I was working full-time and nursing and the only way I got sleep was to nurse her in bed and so she ended up sleeping with us), and there were others. So if you want children I also would advise against waiting until you are "ready" because I don't know if you ever feel 100% ready.
.... do not wait... its gets harder as you get older..
It is a little scary, but for now our government jobs appear to be safe (until the news changes again tomorrow - LOL). I agree with everyone, there is no "right" time. If I had waited until I had the ideal situation, I probably never would have had any. As it is, it's kind of last minute...I'm 39 years old after all! But I'm so excited about the baby, so this has turned out to be a nice surprise.
