We were wondering if there are any shops or restaurants within walking distance of the Villas at Vero Beach (apart from the on-site ones). We are thinking of spending five nights there next August but are concerned that it may be a bit "quiet".

We are from the UK and do not know anything about the place and would very much appreciate some help.

Many thanks

I think the town of Vero Beach is too far to walk to from the resort. There is a pizza parlor just across the street, and maybe another store, but there's not much in walking distance that I remember.

Many Thanks for this. What about a cab journey to the nearest town? Would that be feasible either available and affordable?

I'm going to guess that it's about 5 miles to VB. How do you plan to get to VB? there isn't regularly scheduled bus service that I know about.

I don't know if they still do it, but VB did "sponsor" some off site trips. When we were there in '04 we took their van transportation to the Harborbranch Oceanographic institute. This was about 15 miles away, and a good place to visit, learn about the sea, fish farming and more. You can call the resort to see if any sort of trips like that are still offered.

PS. I love VB, but I would need a car to stay there for 5 nights. I would be OK with 2-3 nights. Just a personal observation. DH would be fine with the 5 nights there, no driving anywhere.

We have a fly drive booked with Virgin Holidays from the UK so we have a car for the full two weeks of our vacation.

However I am thinking that Vero Beach does sound very remote and that perhaps 5 nights is a bit too long.

Thanks for your help

hi
have stayed at vero beach fo four nights and can honestly say we really did not want to venture far! the hotel is away from the madding crowd, but it is so lovley and relaxing! there are two restraunts and a bar. also there is a spa which you can book teatments. just walking either way along the beach is a joy. each room has a hard back copy of the guide to vero beach and a very upmarket place it is too, apparently always quoted as being like naples before that place became so overrun! oh i want to go now please :sunny:

We were at VB last August and I saved my calendar of weekly activities. There were not any off-property excursions offered. The town of Vero/Sebastian is a quiet little town - not a big tourist beach like Hilton Head or Daytona would be.

That said, there are tons of daytime activities at Vero - but it is a much slower-paced resort. Because of the Sea Turtles, there are no lights allowed near the beach in the evening - so there is not the "night life" that you see along many beach strips. I, personally   the quieter, more natural beach setting that Vero offers - but if you want more "action", you might want to try less nights at Vero or even Hilton Head - since Hilton Head is much more of a major tourist destination than Vero.

If we were to drive from Port Canaveral to Hilton Head, how long would it take us?

Many thanks
