Help for strategy with old tickets please

I have a group of 6 adults going in January 3-9, 2020. We get in early (1 am) on 4th and are staying at Art of Animation. One person is leaving Tuesday (she has no ticket yet) and the other 5 are there for the whole trip. 2 people have 6 day PH, and the other 3 have old tickets on the account. Two have 4 days of PH, and one has 5 days PH. I really have no idea what type of tickets are left over and if I will be able to add days when I get to the park but I was told over the phone that I would need to add to the tickets at the park and that I can't do it over the phone. The tickets are assigned to particular people because they were left over. Ideally I would like everyone to have flexibility to visit all the parks each day we are there (4th through and including to early afternoon on 9th) but I do not know how to figure out if they will let me add days to the partially used tickets. If I can't add I was thinking of skipping the first day since we will all likely be tired and then only need to buy two days for the person without a ticket, but since she leaves early I think we will want to get to the parks as much as she can. Any advice?

You cannot add days to partially used tickets from an earlier vacation.

Partially used (non-expiring) tickets are best used when you do not need to buy more tickets during/for that vacation or if the entire vacation is for three or fewer days in the theme parks.

A partially used ticket may not be used by a different person than the person who started using it.

For tickets bought several years ago but not used yet, you need to do some research and math to figure out what is best:
a) Use up that ticket and buy another ticket to finish the vacation,
b) Add more days to that ticket,
c) Save that ticket for the future and buy a new ticket for the whole vacation.
There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum that gives you hints on adding more days.

Most unused pre-2016 single day tickets and all unused pre-2017 multi-day Magic Your Way and Park Hopper Plus tickets can be used as-is for the number of days they already have.

I was told to bring our unused 2013 hopper with us and we would be able to upgrade to an annual pass or exchange it for a gift card. Unfortunately I had already purchased our magic bands w/ 6 day hoppers when I called. I'm probably going to exchange it for the gift card as I doubt we will be there in 2020 but I was happy with Disney's response. Thanks for sharing - I'm sure there are unused tickets out there.

While they might do that if you ask, just go into it knowing that exchanging old tickets for a gift card is not a standard option. Those tickets will be good as-is indefinitely for any future visit with that number of park days. Or they can be upgraded to “current” tickets or an AP voucher.

Good luck with the exchange and enjoy your vacation!
