We have taken several trips to Disney, but my husband and I have decided to go without the kids and go during the food and wine fest. What are some must do things and where can I find the best info. Thanks so much

A good place to start would be the Disney Food Blog's guide to last year's festival.

And if you have specific questions, post them here and we can answer them for you. The festival is an amazing time to be at Disney. :goodvibes

DisneyFoodBlog.com is my go-to resource for Food & Wine Festival information. Closer to the festival, it will have all of the menus, special event details, etc.

When we go, we don't go for the special events. Instead, we pick up a passport and take our time strolling World Showcase, stopping at stands with dishes or drinks that piqued our interest.

My No. 1 tip would be to avoid the weekend, if possible. Sometimes that's the only time we can go (we're pseudo-local), and it's much busier than during the week.

Enjoy!

Don't forget the Eat to the Beat concert series, three shows every evening, we caught 4 different acts in 8 days last Oct. We also skip the paid presentations and there's little need for ADRs, we just graze around WS. Fri night and Sunday aren't TOO bad but Sat is crazy crowded. We hit WS at 11 am on a Sat last time just to catch the scene. We had a Lobster Fisherman's Pie from Ireland and a Guinness in the Rose & Crown patio and by the time we finished WS was wall to wall people. Since drinks are so expensive in WDW a lot of young folks come 'Pre Lubricated' so the rowdiness starts early.

You won't find any usable info specific to the 2014 festival until much closer to the festival itself. Usually the first things to hit are the Eat to the Beat concerts and you wont' see those until at least May. Special events will be finalized in July with a booking date in August. Seminar schedules in August. Booth menus won't go up until just before opening.

Another vote for avoiding the weekends, we went to EPCOT several times during our Oct stay and by far Saturday night was much more crowded than Tues night.

Don't book a meal if you want to snack around the world. We had dinner at Biergarden and found that we were too full to enjoy any of the food at the kiosks that night.

We used our DP snack credits whenever possible at the kiosks, ended up getting a good value for the snack credit.

Thought I'd add two quick questions to this so I don't go and start a whole new thread....

Does the F&W festival overlap with MNSSHP? If so, is it easy to do both during one trip?

...I've been doing some dreaming about finally going in September and thought it would be neat to experience both events if possible. :-)

Yes, we are excited that we will be able to do both this year in one trip

Thank you so much Mejo! I'm SO gonna go into full planning mode next month for it...Now whether my DH and I can actually go is a whole other story! Haha I love dreaming though!

The F&W Festival will typically start the last weekend in September, MNSSHP starts a couple of weeks before that. So it's fairly easy to make the two overlap in one trip, though October may give you better options for F&W so you can avoid the really crowded weekends at the Festival.

Definitely check out the 3D Dessert Party! All you can eat desserts and all you can drink wine/liquor....DH and I had a great time!

Another vote for avoiding the weekends. I was completely and totally unprepared for the crowds. It was very overwhelming.

I also agree that you probably wouldn't want an ADR if you were doing a day at F&W. I don't know if you are an adventurous eater, but I recommend trying something that is outside your comfort zone. Finally, like all things Disney, be ready to spend some cash. My SIL was shocked beyond reason at the size of her $8 wine "glass."
