We need to go to Manchester from Denver this August. Every other time we have made this trip, the airfare is quite high. Occasionally we fly into Boston but due to time and traffic we'd rather avoid doing that.
Anyone have any suggestions about bringing down the fare? Is there an alternative airport? We drive a couple of hours to Lake Winnepesaukee (way to a remote part of the lake) so driving a bit is ok if we can save.

Any advice is appreciated.Thanks!

Logan (BOS) couldn't add much more than an hour or to your drive even to the most remote part of the lake and you should be able to find much cheaper fares into there. If you're on the eastern side of the lake it would probably be less. The traffic is much better recently now that they finally "finished" the big dig.

Just do a mapquest search to your destination to find out. I tried a couple spots and it came up about 2 hours vs. 1 from Manchester.

Manchester is great but they have very few direct flights:

The connecting flights tend to be expensive. We live 15 minutes from Manchester and still fly out of Boston more often than Manchester becuase we usually find cheaper flights.

I doubt you'll find any flights into Pease (Portsmouth, NH) or Maine at a decent price from out there. I think BOS is your best choice.

Good luck.

Your problem is that you are flying in from Denver...if you were arriving from Florida you could look at Worcester, Portsmouth or Portland as alternatives as those airports serve the southeast US market.

It's either gonna be Boston or Providence which would add another hour + from Boston.

Portland Maine could be an alternative. It would add some time. Depends on when you arrive at Logan. If you come midday or after rush hour times or weekend you should be fine. It only adds about 50 mins or so to your ride from MHT.

Thanks to all who replied.Since the Big Dig is done maybe Boston won't be too bad. However, airfares from Denver there are still high. But at least there is more competition on that route.

I will keep looking. Thanks again!

Check Southwest. They fly from Denver thru Midway to Manchester.
