So often, people who have only visited DLR think that WDW is an East Coast version of the SoCal parks. It's not. It's huge! It takes a lot of time to get from one place to another when relying on Disney transportation. I'd rather stick to one park per day rather than hop if I only have a couple of days. For me, MK is a minimum 2-day park, and that's where I would spend 2 days with a 5-year-old. That way, there's no rushing to make sure that you get as much in as possible. You can take the time to enjoy being in the moment, which is just how child at that age views the world.
