My DD (19) and I are booked on the Wonder 6/21/- 6/24 - we've never been on a cruise before - starting with The Best!

I've read about putting "essentials" in our carry on bags but honestly we ahve no idea what or how much to pack...

Any suggestions or if there is a thread or a link please just point me in the right direction!!

Thanks....:disrocks:

Just check out the "STICKY" posts at the top of the thread board. They have all the "good" stuff summarized and it is amazingly helpful.

Hope you have an awesome vacation.

Pam

To save room i take as much stuff in travel size as I can. For 3 day you really wont need a lot. Remember the sunblock, you will need it.

have a magical cruise

Swimsuits (I like two so one isn't wet - you may make do with one, or need three)

Suit cover up (maybe)

Excursion clothes and seaday clothes (unless you are going to be in your swimsuit all day - we find ourselves in our suit all day for CC day, but we want shorts and tshirts for the other days) - to save room, plan on wearing shorts twice, but shirts only once.

Dinner clothes - with some planning, you can make a few pairs of slacks/skirts and coordinating tops match up - pick a theme color (this year, mine was blue) and two pairs of pants and three shirts becomes six outfits.

Shoes - I like one pair of flip flops, one pair of Keds (for excursions) and one pair of dress flats or sandals that match EVERY OUTFIT I BROUGHT.

I would bring clothes and shoes. They will provide food and lodging.:rotfl2:

Hey Pam, I am in Lakeland too! It's really a small world isn't it?

I know better and still overpacked on the last cruise. I took a shorts outfit for each day and a dinner outfit for each day. You only wear your shorts for a couple of hours on a sea day if you go to lunch in the dining room. And you only wear your dinner clother for a few hours at night. So you can wear the same pants to dinner a few nights if you have different shirts ot you can wear the same thing, I don't think anyone cares or notices.

I would say plan what you think you need then minus out 2 or 3 outfits if your suitcase is to full or too heavy!

This would be my advice too. Our first cruise we were so overpacked, it wasn't funny. I believe we had something ridiculous like 9 suitcases for a 4 day cruise. We got better on our second cruise, but still have some improvements to make.

And, the suggestion above about different shirts for dinner with the same pants is a good one. I agree, no one else is really going to notice and if they do, who really cares?

You will most likely need less than you think.

Have a fabulous time! :cool1:

I way over packed shorts/shirts given we lived in swimsuits and cover-ups for the 4 days of the cruise! I think you could get away with swim attire type clothes for the daytime and vacatation casual/semi formal for evenings. It was pretty much anything goes for clothes at night on our recent cruise. I even say people in jeans, which I thought was too casual.

No offense to the Ultimate Packing List link above, but we really need to come up with the Minimalist Packing List - what's really needed without all of the extras that you "might" need (the list would include clothes appropriate for all of the dinners).

For guys it's easy, for the women it's more difficult.

I printed off the Ultimate Packing List and I'm sitting here thinking "You have got to be kidding me." I would need a U-Haul to get all of this stuff to the boat and hey, I only booked one cabin for the two of us.

What I learned from these boards is after you pack, take out half! I overpacked on our last cruise! I didn't wear 1/2 of the stuff I brought. During the day, I wore a swimsuit/short set to the pool and/or beach and/or excursions. Nightime I wore either cruise casual or a dress/pants set. I also brought outfits that were mix and match. For shoes, 1 pair flip-flops, 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair dress shoes. That was it. I will learn for my next cruise not to bring so much!

:rotfl: You guys are very right. Seriously the only thing I did like it for was to highlight what I might need. I don't think I packed all that!:lmao:

The simplest advice I can give, is pack light, and it's not all that much different from a hotel stay anyplace. They even just stepped up to high quality bathroom products for washing up and shower that I do recommend using, H20 Spa(click to have a look). As far as clothes, all you're going to need is some daywear, a swimsuit or two, and a few casual outfits of mix and match for dinner. Yes, it's a cruise. It's only 4 days/3 nights, and not that different from any all inclusive land resort, the only real difference is it goes places.
