We are trying to make reservations and the hotel is saying no more that 4. We have 3 young children plus my husband and myself.......what do we do?

What hotel? There are plenty of hotels that can take a family of 5. Of course hotels are geared for a family of 4 but there are those ($$$) that will take 5.

WE tried All Star. Our children are 6, 9, 14. What hotel would you suggest. We would like to stay in the moderately priced range.

Call back to Disney, do not book online, and you may get a cast member that will "let" you book two connecting rooms at a All-Star resort. This option was offered to me when I was taking 2 adults and 3 children.

They just assign an adult to each room, but they know one room will be just kids and the other for adults :smooth:

The price of two All-Star rooms will beat any deluxe room price that can hold 5 people at the higher end resorts. Plus you will have two bathrooms, 2 TVs etc...

Online you can't book this, just call and ask for two connecting all-star rooms.

We are a family of 5 and just got back from our second stay at POR. We LOVE it. When we first tried to book this last trip POR wasn't available so we booked two value rooms. The POR popped up online as available so I called Disney back and got the ressie switched. It ended up being several hundred cheaper than the two value rooms. Now...someone has to sleep on the "trundle bed", which is basically a matress on wheels that pulls out from under the bed closest to the door. I personally took my turn on the trundle and I am 5'5" and a half (yes a half it matters to me lol) and my feet did hang off the end a bit. The bonus for the trundle bed person...sleeping solo without anyone else's knees or elbows or (and I'm sure your family doesn't have this) snoring in your Mickey ears ;) . There are many things we love about POR...Lots of pools and you can also go to POFQ and use their pools too (there is boat transpo between the sister resorts and to DTD or it is a 10 minute beautiful walk along the river to the other resort). We never got any bad food at POR's food court and we got FANTASTIC food from Boatwrights, the sit down restaurant at the resort. You also have Bob Jackson in the bar/lounge area (which doesn't feel like a bar IMHO). He is an entertainer who is tons of fun for the whole family. From 6-11pm there is a caricature artist in the lobby and during the day time there is a hair wrapper out by the dock. You can rent various boats, bikes and surrey bikes. Near the main pool Ole Man Island, there is an area where you can rent fishing poles and fish off the dock, I think it's like $3.50 for a half hour of fishin'. Some of the Mousekeepers made displays with towels and my kids' toys....soo cute, but it's no guarantee anywhere. Also since my son rode the golf cart up front with the driver when we arrived with our luggage my daughter said it would be "her turn" when they came to pick up our luggage. Since they picked up our luggage hours after our check out time...no golf cart. That combined with our departure from the Land of Magic had my lil girl wailing as we walked by the bell hop area. One female bell hop stopped to take the time to find out what was bothering her and then gave her the ride up front around the parking lot. She ran back to her work station got some stickers for my kids and ran back to where we were just before we left. I can't say enough good things about POR, I think I'd like to live there. LOL Hope that is helpful!

I guess it all depends on your budget and if you want to stay offsite or onsite. We have been twice and stayed offsite. We are a family of 5 too and we stayed at a condo offsite (a timeshare). Many of these timeshares are available for rent so you don't have to be an owner or know an owner to stay there. My parents own a timeshare so they exchanged the weeks for us on our first trip. There are a lot of places. We stayed at Liki Tiki and really liked it. Cypress Pointe seems to be a popular one too. It seems to be a lot cheaper to stay offsite, plus at a timeshare you have a kitchen and save money with making your own food etc. You can also do laundry which is great!

I was hoping someone could also help me here.
We are a family of 6, but my little one is only 2. I was told originally when making my ressie my 2 year old did not "count" and we could stay at POR. That same info is also on the DU (I think that is the TA that had a questionairre to fill out before they could contact you) and it said the same thing. Now I am getting nervous as it seems capacity at POR appears to be 5, but no mention of 5 plus a child under 3. Does anyone have info on this? I have my vaca all booked and paid for and don't want any curve balls. I thik we should be ok, as capacity at All Stars and such is 4, but they don't count a child under 3 either - am I ok at POR? TIA

I think it would depend on the size of the other people in the room too. We stayed at POR as two senior citizens, one adult, and two kids ages 10 and 7. My kids are small for their ages though. To us, it doesn't feel cramped. The trundle though is only for kids or small adults.

You'll be fine. You'll get a trundle room and a pack and play for the youngest.

Don't worry. As Ducklite says, you're fine. We did this for a night last November before our package started at the Poly. POR has rooms in Alligator Bayou that have two double beds and a trundle, and then they'll give you a Pack and Play for the little one. Great resort!!!

The cheapest for 5 is going to be POR. Two rooms at All Stars will probably be more comfortable IF you plan on a lot of resort time. If you are like us and spend all our time in the parks, POR is more than enough space.

Hello Fellow Disney Fans. I have been a member since. I hardly ever post, but I read everyday. I just love it.

My family and I (DD 9, DD9, DS6, DH) have planned our Disney vacation for the second week in August - Yes!! HOT! :flower: I have made reservations at ASMo (2 connecting rooms). Now, I am rethinking my choice. Do you think that the children would enjoy POR better than ASMo? It would be more economical to stay at POR and reserve one room with a trundle bed. However, I did see pictures of the trundle bed - it's rather minescule (sp?)! What do you suggest?

Thanks in adavance for your input! :smooth:

whew - thanks for the quick replies!I feel so much better now, I could care less about being crowded - but I wanted to be sure we were not going to be told we would not fit! Thanks again!

I'd say Board walk villas all the way!!! :cool1: big, spacious so the kids can run around and a lways something to do at night. Theres an ice cream and candy shop called sea shore sweets right on the board walk and carnival games too!!! Also kid friendly restraunts!!

I slept in the trundle bed and I'm a bit over 5'5". It was comfortable enough for me, but if I tried to really stretch out my feet hung slightly over the edge. We had two rooms at ASMu reserved but changed to POR when we had the chance because our family loved it the last time we went to Disney. Two nights when my Mom (62) got tired of my loud snoring dad, she slept in the trundle and found it comfortable too.

My family of 5 (DS's will be 13, 11, and 7 when we go in Nov.) is opting for 2 rooms at POP Century. The person who took my ressie guaranteed that we will have a connecting door between the rooms and we love the idea of having 2 bathrooms.
