I have multiple food allergies, among them are peanut, coconut, tree fruits and spices.

I have been wanting to eat at Ohana so bad but I'm afraid of all the allergens lurking around (aka peanut sauce, etc).

So can anyone tell me if it would be okay for me to eat there? Would the chef be able to accomodate me?

TIA

I took a child with food allergies (sesame, peanut/treenut, fish) to Ohana. Many here skip it due to the fact that peanut sauce is served at all tables. Only you can make that judgement. I believe that Disney is conscientious about cross contamination.

Like all restaurants, the chef came out to tell us what was safe and what wasn't- several regular menu items were safe. The ones that weren't the chef modified (like the noodles) so that they were and served everything on a huge plate to her separately with tons of meat (HUGE). She had an ice cream sundae for dessert if I remember correctly.

We had a great experience there and have plans to go back next trip.

Hello!

If you have food allergies, I recommend that you check out my friends at Allergy Free Mouse! :thumbsup2 Tons of info; I'm sure you will find what you need!

Have an awesome trip!

We love Ohana's! We have been quite a few times with our food allergic sons. They are allergic to ALL nuts, sunflower seeds, annatto, lentils. The chef always comes out and goes over what they can have and what they can not have. We ask them not to bring the peanut sauce to the table. We have never had a problem.

Disney is GREAT with food allergies. :thumbsup2

When it comes to peanut allergies and 'Ohana, you need to understand your level of risk. Are you contact sensitive as in if you touch peanut residue then you're in trouble? If yes then I'd avoid the restaurant since there's no way to avoid sticky little fingers touching backs of chairs and there's the risk of those sticky little fingers having been in the peanut sauce. Of course if you're that sensitive them I assume you're taking tons of precautions in the parks as well since Uncrustables are served all over and gain, sticky little fingers are not cleaned of residue in timely manners.

If your only problem involves ingestion then I wouldn't worry about 'Ohana. They will ask if you want the peanut sauce even brought to the table for other guests or not and your food will be prepared in an area of the kitchen that is completely peanut free.

The chef will come to your table to discuss your allergies. I don't know what spices you're allergic to, but I do believe that the meats are typically pre-marinated at 'Ohana. We did have them keep aside some meat without marinating one time thanks to a wonderful chef who arranged this for us but we don't need it for allergy purposes; my kids just don't like the wing marinade. I would ask Special Diets to have a chef contact you to discuss the spice marinades to confirm that the meats can be prepared safe. The chefs will definitely be able to confirm what they can do for you.

My DS also has a PA (peanuts & tree nuts). We've eaten at Ohana twice with no problem. Of course we spoke to the chef who was WONDERFUL. I also wiped the table & chairs down before we sat down. The sauces were kept on the other side of the table for the rest of my family to enjoy. There's always a risk. It just depends on how sensitive your allergy is & what your comfort level is.
