I'm planning two trips next week. One to Myrtle Beach and one to Gatlinburg, TN. I'm just south of the Raleigh Area in NC and gasoline is hard to come by here, wondering if anyone knows how the gas supply is in the two areas. Should I travel?

all day long.. sorry.

oh, you mean for a car...

I was gonna say "none of your business", but then I realized that this is a very real problem for some folks in the South.

Don't mean to be flippant - hope you get your answer.

The two stations nearest my house have been out of everything since late Friday. I think I can get to Myrtle Beach and back on one tank (of course I have to fill up before I leave home) but the Gatlinburg trip is making me really nervous. I thought the subject title would make people look, maybe get me an answer. :goodvibes

Yesterday I heard they do have gas in the Myrtle Beach area but I would call down there to make sure. I know that from Hickory to Asheville gas is very hard to come by. But remember our Gov said it was supposed to be all fixed by Saturday. Which Saturday was he talking about because eveyrone around here is still out of gas.

this gas issue is insane...
South of Atlanta today...we had cops rationing at the gas station..and breaking up fights... lines out the road forever....

But..as of midnight... a couple more stations had gas again....

Here in Asheville the situation is still pretty bad. A bit better than last week but far from good. There are still shortages, and most stations here in town are closed today to give their employees a much needed break and to hopefully stockpile some reserve for the work week. If you are willing to search and bit, and wait a bit longer you CAN find gas.

We moved yesterday, and as of Friday I had no truck to move in. On Friday the man at the rental office told me that the only way I could have the truck on Saturday was to find gas to put in it. I told him I was determined. So, I took his phone number and got in my car and started praying. Lo and behold, the first station, closest to the rental office happened to have gas with not much of a line. I got in the line and called him. I filled several small gas cans ( to have gas to put back into the truck to avoid the charge) and several minutes later he pulled into the station with my beautiful Budget Rental Truck.

Thanks to his willingness to close the office to fill the truck yesterday our move went off without a hitch.

My parents are in Gatlinburg as I type. Mama said they have gas at several stations.

My mom just came home from Myrtle Beach yesterday and didn't have any trouble finding gas from Myrtle Beach to West Virginia.

DH and I are praying all this will be taken care of before our annual Thanksgiving week trip to Gatlinburg!!

I live 45 min from Myrtle Beach. We had a gas shortage 2-3 weeks ago, but we don't now. I would suggest trying to stop at Wilco Travel Plazas or Tiger Marts (Exxon), as the gas there seems cheaper. Actually, I'd reccommend Tiger Mart. I know the owners of the chain and they are great people.

I take it you are probably going to take I-95 down? Then, definitely no worries. Gas prices have been coming down a lot recently as well. I'd get gas in Lumberton area or in Dillon. Or Exit 81 in Latta/Marion at the Wilco.

:confused3 No problems in Detroit area. In fact, it's down to $3.48 right now too from $3.92 earlier this week.

in the charlotte area the mayor says we should be getting more trucks in by mind week. something to do with the pipeline that supplies the area. there are tons of station without gas. long lines at stations with gas and stations rationing gas so that they can get thru the weekend til their next scheduled delivery. DH and I each waited in line for about 45 minutes to get gas the other day. we were lucky we caught the lines early on.

I'm in Bristol, TN/VA which is about 1 1/2 hours from Gatlinburg. We have gas. No problems. We did run out that one weekend everybody else did, but no problems since then. The cost is about $3.69-$3.73/ gallon.

Long lines in Atlanta for the few that are opened. We're talking 100+ cars in some places with one hour + waits
