Huh.....I was trying to book one of the $79 fares the other day, and this is what I read on their site. I wonder if it's new?
Fares do not include a Convenience Fee of $15.00 per person each way. For reservations made by calling 877-432-DIRECT, a $10.00 per person Reservations Department Fee will apply. Bookings made at a Direct Air ticket counter location will not be assessed the Convenience Fee or the Reservations Department fee. Reservations made by calling (877) 432-DIRECT, will cost an additional $20.00 per person each way, reflecting the Convenience Fee
Is it just me or is this really confusing. Is it 15 or is it 20 when you call?
I made mine online, and now I'm even more confused.
A. Because that statement you posted says nothing about the fee if you book online.
and
B.) because I just checked my receipt. The fee is on there.. but when you add up all the itemized fees up the grand total for the four of us comes to 872.
However.. we were only charged 812.. and that is exactly 872, minus the four 15 dollar convenience charges
So basically it's itemized on the bill, but we weren't charged for it.
Finding this curious I went back to the invoice for the online reservation I made in October for our upcoming April trip. Again, the fee is noted on the statement for each passenger, but the grand total is 60 dollars less than it should be if we were charged the fee!
So, from what I can guess, it's showing up on the receipt but you aren't actually charged it when you book online. OR, maybe it's waived for the sales? I booked one set of flights during a $59 sale, and the next set during the $79 sale.
Curiouser and curiouser!
