Help: Dad ina a w/c and no handicap rooms available at the Poly.

I'm in trouble. We leave FRiday for the Poly and Dad's PD had rapidly progressed after a fall last week that he is pretty much W?C bound and can transfer with assist of 1. I called the Poly directly explained how our situation has changed and was told there are no HC rooms but the have hand rails in the bath rooms, in all the rooms. Looking on All ears that does NOT seem to be the case. Anyone know?? I'll take any advice!!

Call the Special Reservations Line: (407) 939-7807 - option 1 and explain the situation. They will be able to see what rooms are available for your needs.

Another option would be to request a shower chair. This way he can sit on the edge of the tub and scoot over into the tub with help. I would also ask for a hand held shower so that he can direct the spray where he wants it. It is something I did after my foot surgery when I couldn't bear any weight on it.

You may have not actually gotten the Poly. If you called the phone number on the reservations form you were actually connected to the WDW Main Switchboard. The number in Post #2 actually is the place that controls accessible rooms property-wide.

When you call the resort phone number, you don't actually get the front desk. You reach a call center that answers as the resort.
You will have much better luck calling the number listed in the previous post.
If a bath chair or hand held showerhead will help, you can get those.

I do know that some of the resorts added grab bars in either all their bathrooms or all the bathrooms on the first floor. With the aging population, it makes sense to add things like that. I don't know if Poly has done that, but some other resorts have.

When they say all the rooms have a safety bar, it just means there is a bar on the back wall of the tub. It is pretty useless for anyone who needs stability to get in and out of the tub.
