Hi!

I am fairly new to scrapbooking so I was hoping to get some input on the Cricut and the Xyron Personal Cutting System. I am looking for a machine that will cut down the number of times I have to go to the local scrapbooking store!! I am looking for both letter and number diecuts as well as the "picture type" diecuts (i.e. suns, flowers, tags etc.).

What are your opinions on these two machines? From what I could tell, the Xyron PCS does more of the picture type diecuts than Cricut does (is this correct?). Also, from reading the boards, they both seem to have their share of "technical" difficulties as well.

Help! Why did you chose the machine you did and do you still love it??

Thanks!

It is $399 (sometimes on sale for cheaper) - and you can cut any font - any size - I have had mine for a YEAR and LOVE IT! Plus you can download thousands of images for free!

Thanks Lynn!

Is the Robo more in the lines of the Wishblade and you can use any windows font that is loaded on your computer? Can you merge the letters and print complete words?

Please give me more details :Pinkbounc Do you need to buy additional cartridges? Where do you get the images that you mentioned (the product website or can you basically use anything that you can find out on the web)? I know the Cricut and PCS are cheaper but the cartidges can add up so in the long run maybe it is better for me to invest in this one!

How did you find the learning curve for this one? And...have you experienced any problems like I have read about the Cricut and PCS?

Sorry for all of the questions - can you tell I am excited to buy something? Thank you so much for your help!! :sunny:

I have the Cricut and LOVE  it. I havent had any problems with it as all. Its easy to use and I have gotten 3 fonts so far and have gotten them all and the machine for 50% off using coupons. So it is a value as well.

And yes you can cut any font - Craft Robo software is more opened up -

To connect words many people use Illustrator - or winpcs Letter (which auto traces too) - or there is a free program called inkscape -

I saw a review once and while the circuit is cheaper to start with it quickly adds up - I have downloaded (and know of a site where you can download them all at once) about 1200 images and titles that people have done and posted for free - so for me in fonts alone the craft robo was SOOO worth it!

Honeybehr -

What store/website would allow you to use 50% off coupons? I keep hoping I could use one at Michael's or Joann's, but their fine print states that they are excluded... :(

I'm intrigued with the Wishblade/Craft Robo, though they are on the expensive side (at least to start, but should ultimately cost less since you don't need to keep buying fonts).

I used 50% off at Michaels when Cricut first came out. I havent bought anything recently.
