Help! Converting VHS into DVD- how or where can I do it?

I was looking at my wedding video from 2002 and thinking that we will probably be getting rid of our VCR soon. There are quite a few home movies that I would want to get converted but the wedding one is the most priceless. Anyone know where or how I can get it done?

You can buy machines to do that yourself. I've got a friend who has one, and I think they only paid aboutr $250 for it. We've been thinking about getting one to put all of our VHS movies on DVD. I don't know the best place to buy one though.

Check out your local camera shop. They probably have a service that will do exactly what you are looking for. Or you can buy a DVD recorder and do it yourself. There are also various services on the internet, but I think you would be better off staying with either a local service or doing it yourself.

If you have a digital camcorder and a fast enough computer with a DVD burner, you can probably do it yourself. You can check out www.videohelp.com for forums that discuss how to make DVDs. It's a very helpful resource.

I have the same Panasonic DVD recorder and I highly recommend it!!! Easy to use and I can also tape TV shows that I saved to my DVR (sort of like TIVO, but it's free from my cable company).

I have a Panasonic E-80H and I love it! I've put several things from VHS tapes on it and burnt them to a DVD. Hooking things can be a bit of a challenge if you have other things (a TiVo, etc) but get any teenager and give 'em pizza and chances are they can handle it.

I just want to thank everyone for posting on this thread. I was viewing my old videotapes of when our kids were younger - when I had less graying hair (lol) - and thought it was about time to update with the technology and get it transferred to DVDs. I'm also doing this for all my pics with my digital camera.
