Help-confused about closures in June

... I am not excited about the Street Party parade at DL-I hope I am wrong but from the reports I've read, it is mostly balloons and street dancers and fewer characters and floats; seems like it won't be as good as the old Parade of Dreams ...

I am going right before you (May 30-June 3rd)
The calendar is up on the DL website through June 1st as of this writing.

As a teacher in California my school gets out on May 29th as do a lot of other schools. Pretty much all other schools get out a week later. There are of course going to be exceptions where other schools will get out even later then that.

Fantasmic and Main Street Electrical Parade will not be back until Mid-June. I have several former students who work at Disneyland (one who is in Fantasmic) and not even the castmembers who are in Fantasmic have been given a return date yet. Don't know why.

Peter Pan is being refurbished and will be down during your stay.

The fireworks show is being shown on weekend until further notice.

The Pixar Parade is shown in DCA daily.

The Street Party parade replaced the previous parade and plays daily. (I have seen youtube videos of that "parade" and am not impressed)

Also be aware that the Aladin show at DCA is only being shown on weekends due to budget cutbacks.

This is great to know, we are also going around the first week of June and I can't seem to find a general idea of when West Coast schools get out. I hope the crowds hold off until we leave!

It will vary. Some colleges and universities that follow a semester-based system will probably get out in May. But most are quarter-based, which get out the second or third week of June. Many primary and secondary schools should also get out in June. Usually, the first week of June is considered the calm before the storm. Not to say that there still won't be a good number of people. But the tradeoff is of course closures.

That's interesting. Is this primarily Northern CA/Bay Area? I know of a plurality of schools in the greater LA area that won't get until the second week of June or so. Well, like I said. It varies. As far as WA or OR goes, I do know that mid-June is the standard end of the school of the year for most public schools.

No--in the Bay Area, almost all public schools are out the second week of June. For us this means June 12th. I don't know of any schools that are out in May around here.

actually it is Central, CA
but when I worked in LA it wasn't much different. The school I worked at last year gets out the first week of June and after talking to some director friends in Burbank and LA they also get out May 29th.

I've posted this before, but I am really kicking myself for deciding to go to Disneyland. When I went this same time in 2005 everything was up and running. Personally, I am beginning to feel as if this is a bait-and-switch operation.

Here: look at all the wonderful things we offer for fun and entertainment. Yes, we understand that you have to book hotels and airfare 5 or 6 months in advance, but we are unable to project that far in advance. So, if we offer 4 parades when you book, but you only get to see 1, tough. If we offer two shows and only one is running and the other one might only show one time during your week visit, tough. If we advertise rides, they may or may not be running, tough.

Funny how I have never run into this sort of thing at DisneyWorld. They have been up front about their scheduling.

Excuse me while I toodle off to the Southwest and Disney.com sites to see if changing this trip to a Florida visit is at all possible!

I'm with you, Mike! I just saw the tidbit about how Magic Kingdom is now opening 4 lands for EMH...so they're adding perks at WDW! Here's hoping that tomorrow they have some news that will improve everyone's attitudes about what's going on at DLR!

I really hope the news is not that the fireworks will be delayed during our trip I know it's pointless to worry about before we know for sure, but I am nervous since everyone is pretty sure that the fireworks will be changing at some point soon!!!

According to DLR Public Relations, the "press event" will take place this afternoon (April 24),

and the OC Register and L.A. Times will be there.

I hope they have some good news to report.

The schedule for June 4 is up, but that's the latest right now on the website. The Celebrate parade is at 7 pm, but there is no mention of the Pixar parade. I am thinking maybe it is not shown that day since CA closes early for Grad Night? I am hoping that the June 5-7 schedule will be out soon...I am nervous about the fireworks since the new fireworks show that weekend since the new show, Fantasmic, and Electrical Parade start June 12.

Hound, the Electrical Parade will still be in DCA.

WHEN: Nightly, beginning Friday, June 12, and continuing through Sunday, August 23, at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks.
