Help-confused about closures in June

...And like I said, Fantasmic was running in Jan/Feb 2007. :goodvibes

I'm glad we have agreement. :grouphug:

Hmm, I wouldn't necessarily say we are in agreement as I would not really pass along for people trying to plan a vacation that Fantasmic ran during Feb. 2007. Maybe I am not seeing where you said Fantasmic was running in Jan and Feb 2007, but just to pass correct information along to fellow DIS'ers, there were only 4 nights the entire month during which Fantasmc ran.

Yes, let’s pass along correct information to fellow DISers. :goodvibes

Fantasmic is never running during this time of year.

I wouldn’t want anyone to make bad plans based on the above statement.

Just look at this year as an example. This year Fantasmic was shown on every single weekend in January, February, and March.

Except for refurbs, other years are similar.

You agree that Fantasmic is usually running on weekends in January, February, and March, right? (Except when those pesky refurbs get in the way. :goodvibes )

This has turned silly and not helpful to anyone so I will not continue this, except to answer your last question...

No, I don't agree, as I have said in previous posts. Fantasmic ran 4 out of 28 days in Feb. 2007 in not at all in Feb. 2008. Feb. 2009 was a major exception due to the Main Street construction.

So... t make this helpful for others, if someone were planning a trip in Feb 2010 I would feel the need to caution them that the odds are not in their favor to see Fantasmic.

In Feb. 2007, Fantasmic was running during two out of four weekends – that’s half the time. ;)

This has turned silly and not helpful to anyone so I will not continue this, except to answer your last question...

I'm not sure why you mentioned that Fantasmic is never running during this time of year.

With regard to January, February, and March:
In 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, the only winter months without Fantasmic were Mar. 2007 and Feb. 2008.

Of course sometimes there are refurbs, but at a minimum, Fantasmic is usually available on weekends throughout the year.

Looking forward, it's likely that fewer refurbs will be required in the near term. Fantasmic is currently getting its third major refurb since Jan. 2008.

In early 2008, Fantasmic had new lights installed. In the fall of 2008 new digital projectors were installed. And now (March 29 to June 11) it's getting the new dragon (Bucky 2.0), and also Flotsam and Jetsam (the two eels from the Little Mermaid), etc. :thumbsup2

The Electrical Parade apparently only runs in the peak season and is supposedly coming back in June (don't know the date).

The DEP is usually shown during Spring Break (two weeks); from mid-June to Labor Day; late-December to early-January; and based on previous calendars, it’s also shown Fri./Sat./Sun. from March to early-June.

The DEP is getting a refurb to add a Tinkerbell float, updated the soundtrack, etc., so the DEP probably won't be shown this spring.

This year the DEP will likely return on Friday, June 12, 2009.

Here’s what the following link says:

Disney’s California Adventure Park

Disney’s Electrical Parade will have its final run on Sunday, Jan. 4 [2009] at Disney’s California Adventure® Park and will not return until June 12 [2009] for the summer season.

Based on previous calendars, here’s some general information about the Electrical Parade (DEP) in DCA:

Jan.: Christmas/New Year's (first week)
Feb.: Not shown
Spring Break: Shown nightly (two weeks)
March: Shown Fri., Sat., Sun.
April: Shown Fri., Sat., Sun.
May & early-June: Shown Fri., Sat., Sun.
Summer: Shown nightly (mid-June to late-August)
Sept.: Not shown after Labor Day
Oct.: Not shown
Nov. & early Dec.: Not shown
Christmas Week / New Year's: Shown nightly (late-Dec. to early-Jan.)

The above information is generally correct, but be sure to double-check the Electrical Parade dates at the official calendar:

We always go the first week in June as our kids get out of school in May (in Texas) and the trade off for lower crowds with the loss of some nightly shows is well worth it to us. There is usually a parade running at each park and we've ALWAYS had a fireworks show as well. Fantasmic was running last year on the weekends but may not this year.

I would suggest planning to get to the parks at opening each day and collect fastpasses throughout the day to use at night. This is our strategy and works well for us. The crowds (who are locals) tend to appear more in the late afternoon and evenings so having fastpasses at night really helps with wait times.

I will be at DL June 4-7, 2009.

3) RDCT - will that be down as well?? I think I saw reports that it will be.

Based on the last 2 years,

the fireworks probably won’t be showing Monday, June 1, through Thursday, June 4.

There’s a bit of a wildcard this year because sometime in June the fireworks show is expected to transition from the “RDCT” to “Magical.” (A big announcement is expected on April 24.)

For your trip, hopefully the fireworks will be showing Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 7. :thumbsup2

If this year's schedule is the same as last year's, then the fireworks will begin showing nightly (for the summer) starting on Friday, June 5. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I know it is a little silly to get worried about the schedule before it is even released, but all the talk on this board of the changes and closures has me a little worried :confused3
We've seen Fantasmic at WDW and didn't completely love it, so I guess I won't be too upset if it isn't running at the beginning of June. I LOVE the electrical parade at night at WDW so I really was excited to see the DL version....oh well it looks like that is down as well.
I guess both afternoon parades will be running. The Pixar parade looks cute! But I am not excited about the Street Party parade at DL-I hope I am wrong but from the reports I've read, it is mostly balloons and street dancers and fewer characters and floats; seems like it won't be as good as the old Parade of Dreams was.
And Wishes is my absolute favorite part of the Magic Kingdom at WDW....I truly will be sad if there are no fireworks during our 3 night stay at DL. I guess I'll just have to wait until the April 24th announcement and hope that either RDCT is still playing or that they've already made the switch to the "new" fireworks show. Does anyone recall if they even had "downtime" during switches of fireworks shows before, such as when RDCT premiered? Do they have to cancel the fireworks show for a few weeks or so to get the new show up to speed, or is it something that happens seamlessly?

There are lots of characters in the Street Party. I'd say around 20?? Ones I remember:
- Mickey
- Minnie
- Donald
- Daisy
- Goofy
- Pluto
- Mary Poppins
- Bert
- Stitch
- Lilo
- Peter Pan
- Wendy
- Chip
- Dale
- girl chipmunk (arg, what is her name?? LOL) - Clarice, per Perlster. Thanks.
- Woody
- Jessie
- Mad Hatter
- Alice
- and lots of dancers.

Thanks everyone for sharing this info..it's helped me plan some dates for a june visit to disneyland with my nephew.:goodvibes

Schools on the West Coast tend to get out much later than further East. Many public schools will not be out until mid-June.

This is great to know, we are also going around the first week of June and I can't seem to find a general idea of when West Coast schools get out. I hope the crowds hold off until we leave!
