BF and I booked the CR (standard view) for 8 nights on a Travel Agent discount. Polly was our 1st choice but at the time was unavailable. On a whim, while calling to order the MVMCP tickets, I asked if the Polly was now available for a TA rate. It is, but is $500 more total for the stay (lagoon view).

Is the Polly worth the extra $500 for 8 nights? Or should we stick with the CR? The Polly is more romantic, but $500 is a lot of money, and this trip is toping $3000 as it is with the room at the CR.

To be honest, I really want the Polly, but I need justification to spend the extra $$$. I know we'll be happy at the CR, but this is BF's first vistit and I want everything to be perfect! BF will do anything to make me happy, so he won't care about the extra $$$, so it's all up to me.

Please help!

Well, that's a really hard one to answer. I love both of them. In fact, they are really the only 2 places we stay.

Since it will be a romantic trip - just the 2 of you -- I might lean towards the Poly. It has much more of a laid back feel. But then again, I really enjoy the wing rooms at the Contemporary because they seem very quiet and tranquil to me.

I say go ahead and splurge -- go for the Poly. Although, I took my then BF to disney for our first trip together and I booked a tower room at the Contemporary and he LOVED it. 1 year later we were married....

I dont think you can go wrong with either. My favorite is the Poly but DH's is the Contemporary. But we enjoy both. You say $500 is alot of money so maybe try the CR this time and do Poly another.

Both are great resorts. Have fun-whatever you decide!

We've stayed there twice, once on our honeymoon, and once a couple years later. Poly isn't really our style. I must say, an MK view at the Contemporary was plenty romantic for us! It was amazing to see the castle all the time from our room. (2nd trip we had a view of the lagoon...that was also nice, to watch the water pageant every night.) I'd go with CR, and if you're set on the Poly, tell BF you want to stay there on your honeymoon (wink, wink)!!

I would splurge and switch to Poly for its atmosphere...tropical, romantic. Lagoon view will be awesome! CR has its good points but is really lacking in the charm department, IMO. Good luck!

I say split it - 4 and 4. That way, you'd get to enjoy both resorts, see which one you do prefer without being committed to 8 nights, & only spend an extra $250. Also, I've heard that the lagoon view at the Poly is truly something special, while the standard view at the Contemporary may be iffy. Now if it was a tower room at the Contemporary.....

I thought about spliting the stay 4 and 4, but even though Disney will transfer the bags for us, I don't want the bother of switching hotels in the middle of our stay. I just want to unpack and forget about it 'til we leave.

I'd love a tower room at CR, but non are available for the agent rate. The lagoon view is why I'm strongly considering the Polly, if it were a standard or garden, I'd stick with the CR. As far as I can tell, some lagoon view rooms will even over look the castle and fireworks, so that's an even bigger bonus over the CR standard rooms if we can get a view like that!

Also, our orriginal vacation plans were to go to Jamaica. When BF heard me singing WDW praises all the time, he suggested we go to WDW instead. So the Poly would fit the tropical theme of our orriginal plans very nicely! By the way, for those that suggested we save Poly for our honeymoon, we're planing on either the Jamaica trip we'd first planned, or a 7 night cruise. I doubt we'll wind up back at WDW until we have kids (though you never know!).

I think we're going to go with the Poly, but I'm waiting for my BF to call me back so we can talk about it some more. I know he won't care about the money, but I do, especially since we are going to Vegas in two weeks, and we have a wedding to save for (we're not engaged yet, but we've talked about it and he'll ask as soon as he gets the ring-which will be when he can pay for one...I'm hopeing he'll ask in WDW, another reason to have a more romantic hotel like the Poly. The CR is great, but romantic it's not!).

Thanks for the input, everyone! And keep the suggestions comming, pro or con Poly.

Sorry, I didn't like the Poly that much. And I've been on Caribbean vacations. I love the CR resort. To me, the lagoon side of the CR is just as relaxing and romantic as palm trees at the Poly. Maybe you can get an upgrade at check-in. I got one last trip (when you could fax in requests) and we went from a garden wing to a MK view tower. Just be super sweet at check-in and you never know!!

Good luck.

Anna

Go for the Poly you will not be disappointed.... especially with a lagoon view room. Request Tahiti and get the largest regular room on Disney property with double sinks and *breathtaking* Magic Kingdom/Castle Views. Enjoy the best transportation from Disney resorts as well - just seconds from the TTC.

IMHO spend the $500 extra - it will be so worth it.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I spoke with BF and he said go for it!!! I called bact WDTC and they got me switched. They faxed the confirmation and everything looks good! We are now staying at the Poly for 8 nights Dec. 3 through 11th.
